2.5 Year old grain and hops..

So time for an update. I didnt use the grain in the end because it smelled stale and didn't want to risk the brew. But when I opened the vacuum sealed hops they smelled great.. So I did a brew with them and... It was great! Some friends tried it and were a bit taken back by how nice of a brew...

Need help replacing my tea urn tap

Hey I do my brewing in a big Burco tea urn - its worked great and have no problems. Only thing that is less than ideal is the tap, its obviously designed to fill a cup of tea, not link pipes to or move water out quickly. So I can take it off easily - problem now is i just can't find a...

2.5 Year old grain and hops..

So a house renovation and setting up a business and i've gone about two an a half years without brewing. Got all my equipment out of the cellar to clean and i've got several packs of unopened hops, and unopened bags of uncrushed grain. What do we reckon, 2 and half years later are they still...

    Milling grain without a mill

I think I might have to make it an excuse to buy a mill... I've talked to geterbrew and as MyQul said with him, they are sending me the grain out again crushed for the price of P&P, and letting me keep the uncrushed. Not sure how well a windmill is going to work on a terrace house.

    Milling grain without a mill

Are the any techniques you've leanred to crush some uncrushed grain without a mill? I know about spending 2 days bashing it with a rolling pin and don't really fancy that. I ask because geterbrewed have messed my order up and send me uncrushed grain (thats 2 out of 2 ordered wrong so no more...

    Beersmith IBU calculation

Reckon its still drinkable at that level? I stupidly rushed my last brew and had a guess at AA conversions for the recipe I was using and missed by a mile. Calculated after that the IBU is 86. When I tasted before the fermenter vessel it was pretty disgustingly bitter!

    Easy Keg 5L

Cheers for the replies, I will have a go at the different ideas and report back (albeit it will be a couple of months probably) Unfortunately the Klarstein has developed a new problem where the regulator doesn't stop pressuring, it's gonna blow up!

    Easy Keg 5L

Santa brought me a Klarstein: http://www.hifi-tower.co.uk/Klarstein-Draft-Beer-Tap-Dispenser-/-Pump-System-5L-Silver_i10481.htm Everything works good, except one thing. When using a keg ive refilled with homebrew the beer came out really murky. So I guess the sediment in the keg is being...

Chocolate malt mixed into my pale malt

So i'm a bit confused what they were thinking. I did an order on Geterbrewed, a custom pack. The order was enough for two brews, I was going to do a stout and a pale ale, it seemed easier to order them both as all I was doing grain wise was increasing my pale malt. So I received my package...
