I've been dry hopping 8 or 10 days into the fermentation process, the one in the image above was 3 lots of 100g dry hop:
Ekuanot BBC Pure Hop Pellet™ | The Malt Miller
Mandarina Bavaria BBC Pure Hop Pellet™ | The Malt Miller
Mosaic BBC Pure Hop Pellet™ | The Malt Miller
It was really tropical...
I'm currently on my 4th brew, so still novice.
I used kits for the first couple then ordered 3l liquid malt extract from the malt Miller site and added a kilo of spray malt for the last one and the current one. I was just browsing around for some inspiration for my next one and found 2 or 3...
The stick on thermometer suggests 20c-ish. It's on the bench in the utility room, there's a radiator in there (and a dog at night) so it remains at a reasonable 18-22c range, I would guess.
I did. It seemed easier to sanitise the hydrometer than try to sanitise something to scoop liquid out.
Could I put ordinary bread yeast in there? If so, how much?
I've given it a stir and sealed it up again. I'll measure again in a couple of days. I'll get a better picture then if nothing has changed. If nothing changes, what should I do, add more yeast?
OK, it's been 14 days since I started. Took a gravity reading and it looks like 1018. That seems like it's not done or has stalled. What should I do now?
Yes, I've shrank some of the kids' water bottles in the dishwasher before. I'll experiment with one, maybe.
I'll look into the no rinse stuff. Unless this is an unmitigated disaster, I think I will have another go so might be worth the investment.
Given that I possibly added hops too soon...
Thanks for the replies, I'll be patient. I put off using the stuff for 2 years, another week can't hurt. My teenage son keeps nagging though :laugh8:
Is no rinse sanitiser expensive?
Would the dishwasher on a 70c wash work? It was fine for the baby bottles. Although I might want to take more...
I have one with the kit. It read 1.04 before fermenting. There weren't any instructions with the equipment kit, hence I'm not sure if the steriliser chemicals are good for bottles. It seems to be the same stuff you use for cleaning the caravan water pipes. :laugh8:
