    Odd town/street name combination

On the way up through Northumberland on the A1, there is a village called Shilbottle and the sign is regulary defaced. You can guess what letter gets adapted.

    Stupidest Mistake You've Ever Made

Using my Burco boiler for the first time and having it set to a rolling boil at the back of the house. Took a phone call and then rushed to pick up my daughter, hoping to be back at the end of the hour. Came back in through the front door and knew from the over-powering sweet malt smell that...

    Stuck Fermentation

Anyway, hey Mancer, my scotch ale kit stuck at 1020. I pitched some additional gervin ale yeast. Gave the whole wort a good stir but didn't go mental (even started to bubble again soon after). Resurrected my water bath and made sure it stayed constant at 21C. One week later.... Bingo, now just...

Burco Boiler Brews and Sparge advice

Once I was comfortable I started to experiment with a wheat beer kit using coriander...

Burco Boiler Brews and Sparge advice

Thanks BigCol. I suppose I would still have to heat up the sparge using kettles or pots to get it up to a reasonable temperature for the Burco to start with- so be it. Cheers.

Burco Boiler Brews and Sparge advice

I've enjoyed doing the simple stove AG BIAB's and I've started to brew a german style lager with the stepped mash process - so I'm looking at getting a boiler to make bigger brews and simplify the process even further! I've surfed the forum and I'm trying to get my head around the Burco mash...

SP 1.018 - time to bottle or stuck fermentation?

Hi Stu, How did you get on with the 'stuck' brew? My Scotch Ale kit has done the same.
