    Homemade all-grain brewing equipment

Hi Buffers Brewery, the caps are working a treat, no leaks whatsoever. To be honest, I'm not sure what equipment exactly to go for. I have no problem building quite a complex system with pump and spray bar. I already have a Inkbird temp controller, but need some guidance on what to put...

    Homemade all-grain brewing equipment

Hi Guys, I have now been making kits and using a couple of King kegs for the last year with good success and now thinking about all-grain brewing. As an engineer with an extensive workshop, I am getting bored during lockdowns and needing a project! I would like to fabricate my own kit. I...

    Co2 alternative?

Valves finally arrived after a long wait. Ordered two, paid for two, eight arrived! Condom fitted to cap, all looking good. Still to fit the gauge and pressure relief valve also another schrader valve for testing. Unfortunately, both my kegs are full and waiting for the beers to clear, so I...

    Co2 cost ££

Hi @xozzx, Simply a bladder inside the King Keg that I can fill with air via a schrader valve. As the pressure in the keg, from the secondary fermentation drops as I drink the brew, I replace it with air. The bladder will not be under any real pressure as it will only be equalising the pressure...

    Leaky kegs

Hi @Buffers brewery, Caps working well. The material is Lexon, 10mm, used for machine guards. Very tough, thinner sheets can be bent in a metal bending machine, but only up to around 5mm thickness. It machines very well and the thinner sheets can also be guillotined. I'm still working on the CO2...

    Co2 cost ££

Hi XOZZX, I might end up going down the same road as you. But as I have not yet bought any CO2 equipment apart from the refillable bottle that screws onto the top of my King Kegs, now is a good time to experiment with a non CO2 system that hopefully will only cost me £15 to put together and...

    Leaky kegs

Hi Wherrypuzzled, If you haven't bought one yet, I have a spanner I made for my King Keg caps that I no longer need as I have done away with the original caps. It is a bit more substantial than the ones you can buy. Send me your address and I'll stick it in the post to you. Cheers, Pete

Hi Guys, Have a look at my post: CO2 alternative? If all goes to plan, I will have a system that does away with the need for CO2 altogether. I'm still waiting for a valve to arrive via Ebay, when it comes and I get the parts put together, I'll report back with some photos. Cheers, Pete

    Co2 alternative?

Hi Buffers Brewery, From what I have researched, latex rubber can be permeable to oxygen and latex rubber. But modern advances have added phenols to the rubber that removes the problem. But a condom being streatched to the internal dimensions of a King keg are liable, possibly, to make it more...
