    Hop addition

Thanks for these tips...this is a kit so no boiling involved....I just wondered about adding a handful of hop pellets around now as it's been in the FV for a week now....I have Challenger so will probably use those. Thanks for the offer of dropping off some hops but I think I am fine. Cheers...

    Hop addition

Hi guys, Looking for a recommendation for adding hops. This is my 2nd brew of Coopers Australian pale ale, the first one turned out nice but lacked flavour. Just wondering what would be a decent hop to add depth and flavour. I have some Saaz, would that be any good? I know Saaz is used for...

    Is my brew fermenting?

Thanks for your advice. I smeared vaseline around the airlock hole seal and the airlock itself and this seems to have sorted the problem....reassuringly it is bubbling away now! many thanks

    Is my brew fermenting?

Hi guys just after some advice... On Sunday I brewed an AG BIAB SMaSH 10 litre batch, SG 1040 All seem fine then added the yeast to the wort at 20 degrees celsius. Checked that the best before date on the packet had not expired. I re-hydrated the yeast (5 grams of Gervin ale yeast from Wilko)...

New member & first Time Brewer, looking for reassurance :)

2 weeks in the house should be sufficient to allow for secondary fermentation to occur. Room temp should be fine, I usually keep mine in my airing cupboard because that's where the boiler is and slightly warmer than anywhere else. Or on top of a wardrobe in the warmest bedroom should be fine...

    Watering down strong brew

Thanks for the advice. I'm very close to lagering. I only have basic equipment so going to keep it in a cold fridge for 10 days. Is it best to rack to beer into another vessel before doing this so its off the trub or does it not matter? Cheers

    Watering down strong brew

For the lagering process is it a case of racking the beer into another bucket so that it is off the trub and leaving in a cold fridge for 2 weeks? Then prime and bottle? Cheers

    Watering down strong brew

Some advice needed. I have just fermented c. 9 litres of a pilsner style beer and it is coming in at c.6.5 % which is too strong for my taste. I am thinking of watering down with c.2 litres of sparkling water to reduce the ABV and hoping using fizzy water will prevent oxidisation. Is this...

    Best Pilsner in the UK?

Really keen on the 5% Grolsch although difficult to find in the shops. The 4% is still good but 5% tastes that bit better IMO

    1st SMaSH

Thanks mate. Sounds lovely. As I am doing BIAB method do you think I would need to increase the amount of grain and I'm guessing the efficiency would be less with a no sparge method? Cheers

    1st SMaSH

Hi guys Attempting my first ever SMaSH, it will be BIAB method with with volume of strike water c.15 litres, hoping to achieve 10 litres of beer. I'm thinking of using Maris Otter and Mosaic hops but not sure of quantities and timings for the hop additions. Any advice welcome....

    Pilsner malt

Amazing thanks for your advice. If I were to use say 2.5kg pilsner malt and I wanted to add a splash of Amber and crystal, what quantities should I use to add a little extra depth of flavour but without it being overpowering? (BIAB method, 15L strike water)
