    Dark rock brewing kits…..

are fantastic! I’ve just finished my second kit keg, first was Aussie pale ale and then was Citra pale ale. Both done with their brew enhancer And fast carb’d. they were polished off in 1 day each with friends at different garden parties! I usually do all grain, but being short on time I...

    G30/G40 counterflow chiller…

I did another brew last night and all was good…apart from a stuck mash but I think the recipe had a lot to do with that! The chiller worked a treat and was pretty quick, the alarm when the temp was down to 25 degrees was really handy and then I used the thrumometer to get the 20 I was looking...

    G30/G40 counterflow chiller…

Hi, I messed up tonight on my first G40 brew….basically I managed to pitch my yeast into 45 degree wort! A bit of a brain fart after a really smooth brew day on a really cool piece of kit! So I set the water to around 1l per minute flow as advised and after what seemed like ages I read on...

    Cornelius gas

Forget them! I have fitted s30 valves to most of my corny kegs for taking to parties etc and now I cant be them locally anymore! Best use a proper co2 bottle and like me if you take them on tour get. Soda stream bottle and regulator!

Controversial? Where’s all the good Yorkshire beers?

I was at Tan Hill Inn last weekend with a mate, party as it’s a great motorbike run from Edinburgh and partly for the beer and atmosphere of the pub. We had a good few pints, deliberately picking local or English ales and to be honest we were both bitterly disappointed! Out of the 7 or so (we...

What are you drinking tonight 2022?

My last pint of Irish Stout using the recipe from the homebrew challenge YouTube channel as a base. Probably one of the best stouts I’ve made so far! Although I’ve got an oatmeal stout in the fermenter and grains for another from The Brewing Porters and Stouts book byTerry Foster which is this...

    Burco/Cygnet boiler sparging….

Hi, I read somewhere that somebody has managed to push a piece of silicon hose over the original tap of their burco or cygnet boiler. Now I’ve receive my G40 I, going to use my cygnet for small test batches and as a sparge water heater and rather than use a jug I’m thinking use a hose to...

    Large (double batch) Fermentation Vessels?

after hours of searching and not finding a suitable FV, and being sensible about the weight of 40l in the fridge, well getting it in and out, I’ve went for a heat pad and inkbird! I’ll split into 2 FV‘s and play it safe. It’ll also give me an opportunity to play with different yeast, dry...

    Glasgow CO2

Hi, Who are folk using in Glasgow for CO2? I’m setting up a kegerator for my brother. I use Lothian gas supplies in Livingston who are great, but looking for somewhere similar in Glasgow. I tried Sig who are hobby brew suppliers but they are crazy expensive! Ideally it would be a 3kg...

    Large (double batch) Fermentation Vessels?

Hi, I have just purchased a G40 and although I’ll mainly stick with 19l batches I’m going want to go bigger to supply my brothers who have got a thirst for my homebrew! Currently I use 30l FV’s in my converted fermentation fridge, but for double 40l batches (and 30l batches) I’m looking for n...
