Excellent, thanks a lot! All ordered. Do I need to put hot or cold water in at the start, or a mixture- maybe hot to get the LME diluted and nicely liquified, then top up with cold? And presumably then treat with the campden tablets, leave for 24-48 hours, then pitch the yeast?
I've ordered...
Hello all,
I've got a single can of Coopers Wheat LME- 1.5kg. I think I got it in my beer kit days as a beginner, before I moved onto all-grain brewing. The reasons for buying it are lost in the mists of time. It has sat languishing in my shed for nigh-on two years, since the bad old lock-down...
there is- don't know- will experiment. assume you can though if you put on a false bottom?
Thanks! Do you have a link for the tap/bazooka? That sounds like the ticket.
Thanks Baz- no it comes crushed from the seller (Get 'Er Brewed or Dark Rock). Nope, I don't whirlpool- I will deffo look into that though- that may be very helpful. Thank you.
Um: 1. Possibly not (I bought the one for the bin, but I am starting to think not)
2. Nope. Will do!
3. Boiler...
Thanks! Here goes (sorry, it's a bit long, but you did ask):
I put my Peco Electrim boiler onto a heat pad (just to give it a bit more insulation), add 18 litres of water heated to 72*, then I add the grain into a grain bag. Originally I tied the bag around the top of the boiler leaving it...
Hello all,
I've posted here before with my first attempts at brewing AG from Get 'Er Brewed. I was really happy with the results. I've now brewed another AG batch from them, and today brewed one from Dark Rock, their Kolsch.
I seem to be running into two issues: My original gravity is around...
I have been out to check on it like an old Mother Hen and it seems to be fine, it's about 17* in the aquarium, not got a thermometer in the brew itself. it's a lower temp fermentation yeast, it says 17* so we are looking good. If I squint the right way I can almost persuade myself the levels on...
Just finished- will report back with readings.
Yes thanks- I have a 75w aquarium heater in a big plastic builders bucket with the FV inside that. The bucket is filled with water. The lot is sitting on a heat pad. Will see how it is in the am!
Thanks!! Yes good point about the grains. I’m brewing in my barn, it’s blimmin’ freezing. About 3 degrees.... well I stuffed the bag into the wort and cranked the peco to 66 for an hour mash. No harm seems to have been done!
I sparged with the bag in a sieve and brought the lot up to a boil...
Help! I've just started my brew day and I've hit a snag or two already!!
I put 15 litres of mash water at 71 degrees into the Peco, and poured in the grain. the top half of the grain was totally dry- 15 litres isn't enough to cover it all. so, I knotted the bag and just dropped it in like a...
Thanks for all the help!
It's one of those flicky-off and on taps, I am not sure I could get it to slow the rate, it looks like it's binary off or on. But after the comments on here, I think I'll just give it a blast and see what happens. what can possibly go wrong!? I will report back here...
