Have a go at simple AG

so..original recipe made 18 days fermenting 2 cold crashing 17 conditioning (5g sugar per l) an I tasted one..........it was really rather nice indeed, definitely better at that stage than all kits I have done. As has bee mentioned, none of the kit 'twang' and I think I am an AG convert, I...

Punk IPA recipe - Fermentation temps/times

Yep, everything you say agrees with what I thought. Think I'll just ignore that & ferment for a while, dry hop fro5 more then put in fridge for a couple of days and then bottle. one odd thing, I was googlong this on my phone last night & I get a whole different world of results to when I...

Punk IPA recipe - Fermentation temps/times

I agree, that is pretty much what I do - but what I have quoted is exactly word for word what it says. Hmmm, maybe I'll look tonight and email autor of book or check other recipes. Thank you

Punk IPA recipe - Fermentation temps/times

HI there, shortly going to produce my 4th AG batch. Looking at the Punk IPA recipe that is in a book I received. I am new to this so apologies if this is a dumbass question, it just seems like their fermentation times go against everything I have read. It states 19C for 5...

Have a go at simple AG

Update - 3 AG batches in now, bottled the first one on Fri night, still to carb - but the difference at that stage between this and a kit is very discernible. I used the original recipe, Fermented for 18 days, then cold crashed for 2. It really does look very promising at the moment - have...

Have a go at simple AG

OK, so all done on sat night. Seemed to go fairly well, very interesting seeing it all evolve - especially a few days in now where it is bubbling away nicely! The Kits I did in a plastic bucket, so now you can see it all going on Took a very long time to chill though, I have already...

Have a go at simple AG

OK Folks, has taken me a few days to trawl through all this – but it has absolutely inspired me to take the next step, huge thank you to everyone that has posted here – I thought would be a while away yet from AGB as I needed more kit but reading this and the wife informed me...

    Youngs American IPA

Still fairly new to this, yesterday I found a couple of bottles of this from 4m ago and blimey - those people that say wait 3-4 months were not wrong, it was crystal clear & tasted wonderful. Now it is a little bit warmer, I am on full on stockpile for the summer mode!

    Festival New Zealand pilsner.

Have to say, 4 weeks in now since I bottled this and it is fantastic. Of the three kits I have done the Woodforde's Wherry was OK but the Youngs IPA and especially this NZ Pilsner have been fantastic. Started off a Festival Summer Ale last night - expecting good things!! I will definitely do...

    Youngs American IPA

Thank you both, that's kind. Yes I did use all the sugar, made 6 bottles and popped rest in the keg, is the first time the keg has been used so shoudn't be a leak. So probably is that it is just very well carbonated, I go from a trickle coming out to teh 'splutter' with barely any more turning...

    Youngs American IPA

20 days in the keg, have to say it is tremendous - so so nice. My first kit the woodford wherry is good, but this gives context to that - it is brilliant. I thought I had messed up as so much sediment everywhere with a few issues getting into keg. But it is perfectlly clear and with garage...

    Festival New Zealand pilsner.

Brilliant, thanks Magnus - I did it and as you say, tried to locate in centre of house - temp anout 18 degrees at the mo, so should kick off soon. Accurate thermometer sounds a good idea. just got the strip at the moment that came with the kit. We shall see

    Festival New Zealand pilsner.

So about to start my 3rd brew and this is it. I was planning on doing it tonight but a bit concerned that the temp may go too low, don't think we have the heating on overnight & as yet i have no brewbelt or suchlike. Based in the UK, is homebrew more something that people tend to do in...

    Youngs American IPA

Kegged/Bottled mine last night - 19 days in fermenter, 1.054 to 1.006 = 6.3% I thought it was off when I opened it as it looked like a green caludron (is only my 2nd brew) but a quick google search assured me this looked OK. Hope bag had come undone & so lots of floaty bits which is a shame...
