All of the above.
I think it's just because FIK is not 'standard' practice and if my beer is not the best beer I've ever tasted, I'm looking for potential causes of faults.
But I enjoy the simplicity of FIK....
Just not sure if the beers are as 'clean as they could be. However, all the beers share the same components; same malts, hops and yeast. The beers are mild, porter and stout.
I currently have a pale fermenting, so I'll see how that goes.
Almost a smash, golden promise and some torrefied wheat. UK Cascade and us 05.
First pale ale in my FIK set-up. Toying with dryhopping but concerned with sanitation of hop bags and kinda like to leave things alone until bottling day.
So I'm considering this:
Ss brewtech 3.5g brew bucket mini
I currently brew between 5 and 8 litres and ferment in kettle. I bottle straight from the kettle.
Why am I considering the brew bucket?
Honestly, just because I can.
I'm not sure if FIK is working for me, I've still a few brews to...
Bottled my latest today. Achieved a better attenuation (70%) by pitching a wilko/ gervin/Notts packet after the Windsor.
Just a couple of weeks to wait to see if they're gushers. 🤞
Had one again as it’s now in my local Aldi. Price tag says ‘new’ so perhaps it’s just rolling out….
Would amend my original comment to ‘ok’. But it followed 2 ok William bros ipas (hazy and brut), clearly been to Aldi!!! and a Homebrew stout, so taste buds were skewed
I don't have a exact recipe but how about a dark mild. Pale malt, a crystal or 2 and a little chocolate for colour. Ekg or Bram x
Or a strong bitter, like above but drop the chocolate.
All brewed this year with no extreme temps during conditioning.
FG of 1.014 and 1.022. Mash temp was on the higher end and as said, yeast was Windsor.
I ferment in kettle and bottle straight from them, so no transfer other than to the bottle.
I have Windsor working on another atm. But I'll...
Years in the game is on and off.... always learning I think.
The bottles are unused pet with just a sanitizer and 1 carb drop.
Haven't really had gushers before, not always good beers for different reasons but never a gushers.
A brown porter to finish my PABB (pale, Amber, brown, black) batch/series. 5 beers with varying amounts or combinations of said malts and EKG and Windsor yeast.
The 2 bottled beers (mild and notso double brown stout) are gushers. A 'Bitter' in the Pinter is about ready to tap when I have an...
