    IPA Conditioning time

Hi, I’m currently fermenting my first IPA style beer, is the conditioning time reduced for this style of beer? I normally keep at room temp for a week or so for carbing, and then leave in my cellar for 3 months (mainly kits, and a couple of BIAB ales previously), but people seem to turn their...

    W-34/70 Yeast

I just bought it upstairs and took a cheeky peak inside, there IS a small layer of krausen on top, and I think i even saw a little bubble pop. All is well I’m guessing. Phew! Won’t be so stingy with my yeast next time.

    W-34/70 Yeast

Gonna bring it upstairs tonight, if there’s no sign of life will rehydrate the rest of the packet in the morning and hope for the best!... Cheers

    W-34/70 Yeast

Bugger! I spent all morning making the beer and then skimped on the yeast! Ok, will try rehydrating, should I drain off some worth and rehydrate in that?

    W-34/70 Yeast

Hi, I made a brew on Saturday, using w-34/70 yeast, I pitched it at around 22c, just sprinkled on top of the wort, and moved it to my basement where it’s around 13/14 degrees. after a couple of days the airlock is showing zero activity, and there’s no noticeable krausen, the yeast packet says...

    Fine Crush.

Hi Everyone. I got some malt online a while back, and asked for fine crush, as I’m doing BIAB. I recently ordered some more, but when it arrived the crush didn’t look nearly so fine. I sent a pic over to the vendor, and they agreed that it hadn’t been crushed properly. They resent the grain...

IPA with Saaz and styrian goldings

Hi everyone, I made my first biab brew the other day, and am already planning my next. I made a Belgian blonde type ale last time, and have some left over saaz and styrian goldings/celeaila hops, as well as some pilsner malt and maris otter. I’d quite like to make an ipa next, and will...

    Stopped bubbling...

Good point. I use a large glass carboy, and use a bung with a hole for the airlock, I’ve often wondered whether it was totally air tight, perhaps I’ll get a carboy cap, as they look like a better solution.

    Stopped bubbling...

I made my first biab homebrew on Tuesday, it bubbled away fairly nicely for a couple of days, but never had much of a krausen, and now the airlock seems to have stopped completely... any idea why? Or how I can fix it? I’m using safbrew t58 yeast, fermenting at 18c

    Celeia instead of Styrian Goldings

I hope so! Perhaps that’s why I bought them (was a while back)

    Celeia instead of Styrian Goldings

Hello, I’m just making my first home brew (first non kit anyway) just realised I’ve got celeia hops instead of styrian goldings... not sure how that happened, but any advice about what I can do? my hop additions are 17g Saaz at boil, 5g styrian goldings at boil, 6g styrian at 20 mins... my...

    Mangrove Jacks Helles

Mine’s not great, brewed as per the instructions, finished at 1011, added the hops for a couple of days at the end, perhaps it would have tasted better/a bit more hoppy if I’d added sooner? Maybe more like hop house too? Mine didn’t!... it’s ok though. Made about 4 months ago I think.

    Mangrove Jacks Helles

Just had a taste, either not ready (it’s been in my cellar for about 3 months) or just doesn’t taste very nice!... found it a bit tangy. I put the hops in for 3 or 4 days I think, in a hop sock. I made it with regular tap water, which was the last brew I’ve made like that. Have used either...

Just put one in the fridge, will let you know tomorrow! Tasted one a couple of weeks ago and it had improved a lot.
