So I have found this.
He is suggesting a conditioning temperature of 20C - is this correct. (It looks like the same setup as I have)
Youtube Video of Pressure Barrel Use
Carbonation by putting fermented beer into the barrel with brewing sugar but at what temperature?
It is a barrel with an S2 pressure cap (I have a gas canister)
So I have tried many different ways of getting from the end of fermentation to bottle/barrel and have as yet not really come across a definite 'proper way' and I'm hoping you guys have the experience and know how to help me out here.
I have a batch of IPA about to finish fermenting, its only a...
I've been messing about with gas burners, big pots.. very big pots, home-made mash tuns and a bit of plumbing.
It has all worked really well but its time to get a bit better and though scaling down recipes works OK, I think I will get better results doing full volume 23L brews.
What with the...
I've had a go at a SMASH CITRA IPA which has been a resounding success, I cranked the grain up by 50% and got a 7.6% beer.... which is probably why it was successful thinking about it.
However, what I want to do next is get a hold of dry hopping.
Most of the recipes I have looked at on this...
So I made my wort chiller and had a play with it. I'm really surprised how efficient it is.
I did notice though, quite a lot of condensation on the cold pipe above the hot liquid.
Is this something to worry about, should this condensation drip into the wort?
It's odd that though your burner is I3+ rated the instructions say 5 -13kg (min 3kg) cylinder. Mine is the 5.8KW version of that and it says ONLY 13 to 15Kg.. In any event I only have a 4.5kg cylinder. What to do...I don't fancy blowing £70 on a new 15kg cylinder...
A cautionary tale.... To use these gas burners you need to be sure you have the right size cylinder. It seems that you can't use about 2.5KW or higher burners with a 4.5Kg cylinder.
This is because the burners are I3+ rated (whatever that is) and as such can ONLY be used with either 13Kg...
So .... I am into small batch brewing and decided to experiment.. well mess about.. oh OK... play!
Mainly because my brewchamber is sat at 3C whilst my 'lagering experiment' conditions.
The first issue is how to mash when you are only using about 1Kg of malt and 2 - 3L of water.
I saw the "How...
From my 'O' Level Physics.. or possibly Chemistry, When you mix enough ice with water, the water will go to 0C and stay there until all of the ice has melted. Then the water temperature will increase to the ambient temperature
