Some will disagree, but a loosely fitted lid is more than adequate and and airlock or blow off tube is not strictly necessary, as long as the lid prevents stuff dropping in the brew. It won’t stop a monster like this though, nothing will.

Mine from Brew2Bottle arrive in Milton Keynes depot on 1st April. Brew2Bottle have chased them at least twice but still nothing. They are putting it down as lost and are now annoyingly out of stock so I can't reorder.
If you can't get the heater cable through the drain hole, it may be OK just closing the door on the cable, or worst case trim a little of the door seal away to allow the cable through (reseal it with silicone if you wish).

If you don't have instructions a quick search of the net should help, or YouTube. Once you've used it a couple of times it becomes second nature. Other than varying the temperature, depending if I'm fermenting or storing, I haven't touched anything else since getting it.
