    Carrot wine

Do you have any half-sized wine bottles for extras? You could always put small tag ends in beer bottles and use a standard crown cap.

    Silicone/Collapsible water bottles for wine?

I came across an advert for a temporary wine holder that is basically a rebranded collapsible water bottle for use on picnics etc. So you fill it up from your usual bought bottle of wine and take it with you. The advantage being it is light weight but also flat pack when not in use. It has a...

A more up-to-date book of 1964 Making Wines Like Those You Buy

I wondered if members knew of another book similar to the very good, but now dated, 1964 classic book Making Wines Like Those You Buy by Acton and Duncan. I've got this book and the country wine recipes for types of wine, like Chianti and Sherry, are very good but is there a more modern version...

    Home winemaking podcasts?

Do any exist? I listen to a lot (and have tried many and rejected) many podcasts about the more usual vineyard wine world and associated people, prices, concerns etc but wondered if there were any about home wine making, or country wines - even old podcasts no longer going but still archived?

    Miller Lite Beer Drops

For American National Beer Day (6th April) Miller Lite have announced they are making Beer Drops which you can add to any 'lite' beer and it will make it taste like Miller Lite. What a wheeze! Haven't been able to find out the ingredients of these droplets but probably malt extract and/or sugar...

    Home winemaking software

Hi, I wondered what other Forum members use to record their winemaking recipes and results. I found an old thread from 2012 where a member had developed their own software but sadly that link no longer works. I've also come across an app called EnoFile but again, although working, doesn't seem...

    Blending wines from wine kits

I wondered if anyone had tried blending together their made wines from commercial wine kits to obtain different styles of wine? So perhaps blending some Merlot with Cabernet Sauvignon to try and get a Bordeaux style red or perhaps mixing some white and red together to get a rose/pink? I found a...

Lifting and racking a 30-bottle kit

Thank you. I was guessing that too. Is it an Australian term? Or a beer brewing vessel? Just thinking out loud.

Lifting and racking a 30-bottle kit

Hi, Could you explain what a thicket is as I'm not familiar with this.

Lifting and racking a 30-bottle kit

These are some great suggestions. Any more?

Lifting and racking a 30-bottle kit

Thank you for your quick reply. But could you explain a thicket. I am not familiar with this term.

Lifting and racking a 30-bottle kit

I used to be able to lift the filled 25-litre fermented bucket of wine from the floor onto a small table so that there was some head height to start the siphoning off and racking after an initial fermentation. But I'm not sure I'm up to the task any more. How do members deal with larger volumes...

John Bell Coventry Wine Circle: still around?

Does anyone know if John Bell is still around? He used to answer the 'Dear John' wine maker queries for Ritchie products and their winemaking kits. If he is still around he'd be in his 80s or 90s now. The old Ritchie website says he joined the Coventry Wine Circle in 1968 and ran the Coventry...
