    Tart Cider

@Vindicator Is it just Bramley you use and is this why you adjust the Ph levels. The first time we made cider the mix of apples was very good and all our trees seemed to be full. This year is not as good with most of the trees just producing small apples and some none at all. The cooker tree...

    Tart Cider

well it kinda pulls your cheeks in when tasting. Definitely not acidic. I found some sweetener (acesulphame k) so I've used that to bring it back a bit and if its still like it a time of drinking I'll use a bit of sugar or apple juice in the glass. Failing that, I can always drink the good stuff...

    Tart Cider

I think a little help is needed and appreciated. 2 years ago we had a go at making cider and I was a complete novice. Saying that, the cider came out perfect, 80 bottles of fizzy and a 5 gallon pressure barrel. Move on 2 years as we missed last year and we're trying to replicate are previous...

Coming to the end of fermentation

It appears i might be coming to the end of fermentation of my first ever attempt at homebrew cider. I've got 15 gallons on the go and i'm trying to get 2 types. 5 gallons to be a semi sparkle in a pressure barrel and the rest into bottles. The bubbles are quite slow now so i need to be prepared...

Cider Scratter/ Apple Shredder- Suggestions wanted.

I built my own Scratter. Very easy, I had half a sheet of ply, some wood for the frame and a corded drill for power in the garage. It cost less than £30 in parts to buy and it takes whole apples as fast as i can feed(apart from the odd poke with a long stick).

    Tanglefoot's fruity fermentations

We've just started to make cider with the trees we have but don't know the names of any of the varieties but maybe we were using the same type of apple.

Help needed for a beginner before I loose it

One more quick question on the above. As i've added a little more yeast would this have an adverse affect on the taste of the finished cider?

Help needed for a beginner before I loose it

Thank you everyone for the replies. I'm glad to report my baby is alive! I mixed up a bit of yeast and nutrient and a bit of a stir. The first signs of pressure in the bubble this morning and i know it has bubbled this afternoon, its slow but at least its started. Now it can take as long as it...

Help needed for a beginner before I loose it

Hi to everyone, i'm a new member and found this forum while searching for help so I'll apologise in advance for jumping straight in with a question. We had a load of apples and decided to have a go at cider. The amount of youtube videos i've watched is unreal. We haven't a clue to the apples...
