What kit beer are you drinking tonight?

Tonight I will be drinking from a just tapped mini keg of a tweaked St Peters cream stout kit. Conditioned for 4 weeks, this was the kit that I made up with 100g of lindt 90% chocolate and several litres of a cafetiere coffee that claims hints of chocolate. I was after something that was first and foremost roasty but with a chocolate finish. The roast is good, the chocolate is there, but could be boosted a little. Maybe some Cocoa nibs or another bar next time...

Supping my first ever homebrew tonight, the Cooper's Hefeweizen. It's very drinkable, although a little bland. A slice of orange in it has really added to the flavour though and made it a very enjoyable wheat beer.

Very happy with it. Prost!

That I'd try the limited edition Festival Peach Weiss that I've been carbonating for the last few weeks. It's not bad...

I see that you’re also drinking the Cwtch Graz. How long has it been conditioning, and if you’ve had it a while - at what point do you think it approaches peak drinking?
I read on here that it needs a good while. Had a first try at 5 weeks of conditioning and was very pleased with it, but I don’t want to hit it too hard too early. It’s now nearly 8 weeks and I’m getting the itch!!
 
Mangrove Jacks special stout, brewed it during lockdown last year and had a few bottles left. Realised must have been drinking it before out of desperation. It's now a tipper, just doesn't stand up to the all grain mackeson stout on nitro in the keg fridge at the moment.

It's only the second time I've made Cwtch and the first time didn't go so well, I'd bottled that one and for reasons only known to me decided I wanted it to be a bit more fizzy than normal so added more priming sugar. Every bottle was a nightmare to pour, the beer itself was okay but suffered from a bit too much carbonic bite so not the result I was hoping for.

This time it's in a keg and lightly force carbonated. Not sure how long it has been since I brewed it, I really should keep better records, but I'd estimate early January so probably had at least 8 weeks of conditioning after kegging. As this is quite a hop forward ale I do tend to be on the side of fresher is better and I don't think I'd want to leave it much longer so I'd probably say it's at its peak now.

With yours at 8 weeks I'd say you be fine to scratch that itch.
 
Brupaks Fixby Gold - a two can kit so thought I'd brew the two separately with the kit yeast, and MJ Liberty Bell.

A fair comparison between the two yeasts is based on a big old assumption about the contents of those two cans! Pouring the contents of the glass on the right, into the glass on the left produces a very decent golden ale!
 
MYO APA from the range - this is a seriously bitter, moreish beer with a fantastic hop aroma. If I’d discovered this kit last year I may never have gone back to AG! Clear as a bell from my plastic PB with great carbonation and long lasting head.

Woodfordes Wherry. Not as great as I'd expected from all the reviews on here. Pretty mediocre.
Leave it couple more months, wasnt impressed with mine at first so left bottles in back of garage, rediscovered three months later, what a difference!
 
Dark Rock's part grain Landlord tribute. Was a bit disappointed the "part grain" was adding 50g dark malt, so did a mini-mash with my own addition of 100g Golden Promise. The Safale 04 yeast took a lot of encouragement but got there in the end - it is a nice clean yeast that adds little taste of its own. After 9 weeks in the bottle, this is a decent bitter / pale ale in the same ball park as the legendary brew from the West Riding.

Beerworls "Presidents Sierra" (with an extra 50g of Citra hops), the best kit I've ever tasted, it beats the Youngs AIPA hands down. I would describe it as a near perfect match to Oakham Ales Citra. I'm so impressed I've bought another two,

I'm currently fermenting their "Golden Rocket" but their "Spire IPA" & "Founders DIPA" are also on my list to try.
 
Beerworls "Presidents Sierra" (with an extra 50g of Citra hops), the best kit I've ever tasted, it beats the Youngs AIPA hands down. I would describe it as a near perfect match to Oakham Ales Citra. I'm so impressed I've bought another two,

Big fan of Oakham Ales Citra may have to put that Sierra on my list. 👍
 
Tonight I'm rather enjoying a Youngs New World Saison. Dry, refreshing and very much a summer drink in my opinion. Its just a pitty that the weather isn't very summery.

St Peters cream stout. 8 weeks in the bottle and getting better. Would definitely consider this one again
 
Beerworks "Golden Rocket", it's only been in the bottle for 1 week but I couldn't resist.
Still Hazy (as expected) but hoppy with full bodied citrus notes and absolutely delicious.

At 6% its a little too strong for a session ale, so I'm tempted to miss-out the 1kg of brewing sugar next time to give me a good BBQ brew for friends & family.

Like their "Presidents Sierra", I have high hopes for this brew, I will be sampling one each week until I find the optimum conditioning time, well if they last that long anyway.
