Hey folks, figured I'd say hi. Probably been over 30 years since i last made wine. Only kit stuff though. My wife bought me a Youngs 30 bottle Merlot kit for Xmas and I got around to making it a couples weeks ago. Turned out to be more of a Rose than a Merlot, but it's quite a nice drink and I managed to get a little over 29 bottles, so quite pleased.

I never had many demijohns in the past but I gave them away a few years ago, not thinking that I'd make a return to wine making. Anyway, made a request at one of the local charity shops a week ago and got a msg the other day that they had just received 10 of them and would i like them all for £40. Needless to say i was straight into the car and off to town.

So I've got my red grape juice, Apple juice and sugar. Hopefully getting all my additives on Mon and it's game on for some WOW.
Cheers

Your even further up north than I am.!!! 😁

You got a decent deal on those demijohns they are now VERY expensive at my local homebrew shop.

Yeah I certainly did. I was looking online and they seemed to be in the region of £10 each, so I was going to order a couple. Then the manager at our local charity shop says oh we get them in from time to time. Few days later, "Ive got 10, how many do you want" she says :D

I lived in Thurso for 6 months in 1968. Loved it up there. Even had a day trip across to Stroma.

Just been to Farm & Household in Inverness and stocked up. My 30 bottle merlot kit turned out so well I decided to get a spare 😂

Ah ok I'll keep that in mind. They didn't have Kwik Clear so that was my only option.

Its good stuff i would say equal to KwiK Clear but i think its shelf life is one month after opening i have used it after that having checked it didn't smell nasty and i am sure (if memory serves) @tonyhibbett said ignore the shelf life.
