Didn't actually brew but did rake up the last of my windfall apples (eaters & cookers mix) and hopefully will yield enough juice to fill my lovely new 23L glass carboy I purchased today along with loads of other brewing nic nacs from a really great home brew shop in Middlesbrough called Alan's Home Brew Corner. Good old fashioned customer service and a wealth of info. (moderator, I'm a newbie member so please remove my post if name checks are not allowed).

Mangrove Jack's Juicy Session IPA brew put on last night. Made it short at 21L.

Looking forward to this one. The Pink Grapefruit IPA that I brewed was lovely, and going by all accounts, it seems to be neck and neck against the Juicy Session IPA.

21 litres of Helicopter Pale Ale ( a replacement for the 30 bottles tipped)
4600g Maris otter
200g Wheat malt
200g Carapils
25g Chinook @60m
16g Chinook @15m
25g Chinook @ whirlpool 90C for 20m
Chilled down to 21C
CML Clipper yeast @19C
OG 1054 BHE 72%
IBU 59.8
SRM 5.7
Think I'll have to brew this as in a recent hop audit I found 250g of Chinook.
Must admit to feeling a little foolish when I googled Helicopter Pale Ale and the Chinook connection came to light! :laugh8:

T.T. Landlord. Can't believe I haven't made this before. Brewed with an Aussie twist, base malt is Voyager Veloria Schooner.
Should have been 1,042 hit 1,044 will dilute after ferment has finished.

Yesterday I made an Oatmeal Stout for first time, a Jon finch recipe I scaled down.
MO, Chocolate and Cara malts with malted oats. 50gm of EKG at 60 mins for IBU 37 ( 18L ), let it chill overnight and pitched
Labrew london ale yeast this morning.

Then today I brewed another APA. Extra pale MO, Munich and Cara malts, bittered with Mosaic and later additions of Citra
and Cascade in boil/hopstand.
Didn't take long to cool with wort chiller hooked up to the outside tap, pan on patio table and snow falling all around !
Pitched safale US-05 a few hours ago and both brews now sat together in fridge.

Berry Red Ale, 2 gallons, Maris, Cara, Amber and little wheat malts, EKG and Brambling Cross, 500g Blackberries and Blueberries, OG 1.062, Us-05, smelt amazing. Next up smoked cherry porter, tweaking up recipes from the Brewshop book bit late for Christmas!

A California Common AG from Malt Miller. Somehow came out at 1.056 a whole 10 points over so I diluted a bit with spring water.
Seems to be sulking today but I know better than to fiddle. I'm sure the yeast will wake up soon!
If it was Mangrove Jacks M54 that was supplied with the kit then it can have quite a long lag.

First brew in four weeks; I don't know why, really. My intention was to do another batch of Gumballhead, but I decided to dump that in favour of another batch of Grey Sheep, as that has been my most successful bitter so far. So far I've made one batch with Verdant dry yeast, and one with Wyeast 1469. For this batch, I'm going back to the Verdant, as I was pleased with it first time around.

The stout needed kegging so decided to crack on and get it done. I bought a second wilko pb a couple of weeks back having got on ok with the first. This one has been a right pain!
It took about an hour of fettling to get the lid to seal but happy with that I washed and sterilised it ,tightened the tap and filled it. It started leaking from the tap no amount if further persuasion would stop it so I had to put the barrel on its side and see what was causing it. I carefully removed the tap and found a big lump of plastic swarf jamming everything up. This I had to cut and pull out with pliers...sanitised everything again and refitted it. Not leaking now but I hope I haven't contaminated the beer. I was going to return the keg but couldn't find the receipt..
The amber will be bottled.

The offer of two PB's free is still on if you want them? Could meet up at Helsby services or Cheshire Oaks.

I've not brewed today but busy bottling and kegging.
1. Transferred remaining Jail Ale to a 5 litres keg and a few bottles.
2. Put 19 litres of Landlord in the cleaned keg.
3. Bottled x17 my West Indian porter.
4. Transfer my Belgian Tripel to a bottling bucket and then fridge to cold crash.

Could I get a look at the west Indian porter recipe 👍
