Just placed an order on brew2bottle to see how it goes.

As a customer of brew2bottle I've never had any problems.
If Young's as a supplier has an issue with brew2bottle.Then the correct way to deal with it is through the legal system. Not by using their own website like a Facebook page to put them down using vague non-specific allegations.
I haven't heard of any other suppliers having problems with them yet.

I don't disagree, but I certainly won't be shopping with them if any shady practices to shed debt has taken place. Willing to give the benefit of the doubt until it all comes out in the wash, but it seems like an extraordinary accusation to make if it's baseless.

Spot on Dave.
I don't get what all this concern and speculation from certain members is all about as long as they keep sending members orders out on time I couldn't give a rats **** about what has gone on between them and Young's and and like you I think it stinks how Young's handled it.

Really? Shady business practices are an absolute red flag for me. I couldn't bear to back businesses that don't pay their suppliers.

Obviously all this is academic, because none of us know the ins and outs, but I would never give my custom to a business that wriggles out of paying for services rendered. I've had friends on the receiving end of such practice, and it's devastating.

The speculation is fair. We've had several on this thread say that they've had zero correspondence from B2B.

I too said that I had no response to enquiries. However my order was despatched promptly and my account wasn't debited until dispatch was confirmed.
So it appears they are doing what they can to keep things going and customers orders fulfilled.

I placed two separate orders over last weekend for Keg King stuff and Paul's malt. One order arrived on Tuesday and the rest is arriving tomorrow (Thursday).

Several really!

AFAIK we haven't had a single member post that they haven't got what they ordered when they expected it and as I said that is all that should matter.

Thanks, nice to read facts about what is actually happening not all this speculation.

Apologies, it was one of the other threads where people were asking about what was going on with B2B. Probably one of the locked ones.

I ordered from them Friday. Got a confirmation email that day. Then heard nothing until yesterday afternoon, Wednesday. No tracking updates. I phoned Tuesday and no answer, just a 'mail box full' auto message, which got me worried. So I emailed them. No reply to that. Checked my bank account and the money was taken on Tuesday. Email and text arrived about 3pm Wednesday stating delivery Thursday via DPD. So hopefully arriving today.

I am with DD2 tbh, on reflection. I don't want to support businesses that don't pay their suppliers. It's unfair on those suppliers and unfair on retailers who do pay their suppliers.

But Young's haven't behaved correctly either, it seems, and I wouldn't want B2B to go out of business if they have done little wrong, and not avoided their debts. As it stands I don't think we know what's actually going on? So it's difficult to decide. I can't imagine Young's would publish that stuff for no reason whatsoever though. They are obviously pretty angry.

Some of us expect businesses we use to act with a bit of integrity though - if they aren’t paying their creditors then I would feel uncomfortable using them especially if they have set up a new Phoenix company to get away from their debts.

The lack of any kind of counter-statement; the lack of response to emails; the fact that their About Us page stopped referring to Virtual Distribution Limited and now refers to Brew2Bottle Limited; the fact that Virtual Distribution Limited is now in liquidation; and the fact that half of their directors resigned at the end of February doesn’t prove anything, but it certainly gives me a bad feeling about using them.

They're a sponsor though. I'm actually surprised they haven't been on to clarify matters to customers.

Had a quick look at the trustpilot reviews and it doesn't make for happy reading, looks like some orders are not turning up and customer's get no response to calls or emails.

Real pity as during first lockdown this was my go to kit supplier.

As others have said, nobody can support businesses shedding debt and changing company names. However, always two sides to every story.

Will be keeping an eye on companies house registered key people for any new brew shops that start up.

Does anyone trust trustpilot?

If you can go onto trustpilot and just repeat what you've heard .
I don't !

So as stated the previous company has been liquidated. The Statement of Affairs which includes a list of their creditors is on Companies House and attached. Other than Youngs, from a homebrew POV, Lallemand, Brouwland, and Bevie (Grainfather/Mangrove Jacks) are on there. With Bevie being one of the highest creditors at £67k.

Interesting that their stock book value was near £500k but estimated to realise less than £8k. This valuation meant there was nothing to pay unsecured creditors including those above. One can only assume that Brew2Bottle Ltd has acquired that incredibly cheap stock and that is what the shop is now selling.

This is all legal but it sure as hell stinks.

Aye, but they are still fulfilling their orders so nothing else matters!

That’s my reading material for my morning off before I take the kids swimming then. The accountant Reading liquidation documents for fun on his day off.

Please do correct me if I'm wrong on anything and I will amend my post.

I’m not surprised Young’s are sore about it. They are owed over £27k but there’s some £800k owed to creditors, most of that to the bank and HMRC, so they are not getting a sniff of that back; neither are lots of other smaller creditors listed. Meanwhile, the company registered as Brew2bottle in 2020 but kept dormant until this year was activated in March and is now the registered company under which the the shop is now trading. Same people associated with this, along with a lot of other companies. As @YeastFace says, it’s legal but definitely does stink, feel bad for all those creditors on the list, (okay, we’ll maybe not HSBC!)

I'd stick a brew on, far more productive and therapeutic!

We don't know 100% what has gone on but until we start to see posts here about orders taking a long time to arrive or not arriving I don't see why members and guests reading this should worry.

No room in the brew fridge - might get a brew on Sunday depending whether my wit has finished, M21 can take a bit longer.
