So,UK will pay the Rwandan government to "look after" them?

I haven't a clue Clint i am as much in the dark as the rest of us.

I do have a feeling many who go (if they actually do - post #14) will never come back and find it strange they said young men but no mention of women.

From post #10 -
"Rwanda will have the capacity to resettle tens of thousands of people in the years ahead," he said.

"Capacity"...doing what?
UK funds their existence...doing??
It don't make sense and sounds just like people trafficking...or slave trade.
"Tens of thousands "....sitting round all day...I don't think so somehow.

Hang on, "...he says in the video..."

So you're believing a word that comes out of Johnson's mouth? I wouldn't believe him if he said the sun sets in the West!

The narrative being spun here is that we are already being more than generous to these refugees. And they are mostly black too, and it's costing up a fortune. Which we can't afford. If you swallow that...

We wouldn't send Ukrainians to Rwanda, would we?

They are not supposed to come back (and would have no rights here). They are supposed to stay in Rwanda.

No we wouldn't because that is not what this is about.

Boris Johnson said the £120m pilot scheme would "save countless lives".

The PM said it would break the business model of "vile people smugglers".

The pilot scheme would initially focus mainly on single men arriving on boats or lorries and would see them given a one-way ticket for the 4,000-mile trip to Rwanda where they would be processed and, if successful, would have long-term accommodation in the African country.

Home Secretary Priti Patel, who travelled to Rwandan capital Kigali to sign the deal, said the "vast majority" of those arriving in the UK "illegally" would be considered for relocation to Rwanda.

The UK Government will become the people smugglers.

That's probably more to do with the ideological decimation of the NHS.

I think its more to do with the huge backlog caused by the pandemic!

I never realised there were so many lefties on here ,for what ever the faults of this government ,the alternative was Corbin and his merry band of nutters ,just thinking where we would be now if they were in power makes me thankful that they are not .

People who have spent most of their lives as moderates suddenly find themselves tagged as 'lefties' and 'commies' due to a nasty lurch to the right in our politics. It's because of a failure in 'ordinary' people to think for themselves and therefore allow themselves to be manipulated by bots on social media. If you think I'm wrong, how did it come about that the most dedicated people in our country; doctors, nurses, teachers, firefighters etc have been turned into hate figures?

You're being manipulated. Grow up, and please do it quickly.

Ah, the regurgitation begins. The Government are literally taking the **** out of the vast majority of the population and not only do you swallow it, you defend it too

Back on topic, if you think "resettling" refugees/migrants (delete for your own view) 4,000odd miles away where their choices are: stay here; or go home - then you are an utter disgrace and I wish you the shittest luck in life.

Let's see of this "world-leading" deal still exists in 6 months time shall we?

A desperate distraction by a cabal of despicable wrong-uns trying to cling onto power.

I mean, I consider myself pretty centrist in my political views and was certainly no fan of Corbyn but i'm pretty sure they would have struggled to do worse than this lot.

It suits the Tories to bang on about Corbyn. But whatever you think of him, he is not the LOTO now, and is in the past. Neither him nor Starmer would be ideal PMs for me, but I am certain that neither would have swanned off to the Caribbean for a holiday rather than attending crucial COBRA meetings at the height of a pandemic, nor hidden in a fridge to avoid journalists. Or used 'fast track' dodges to divert taxpayers' money to their chums for supplying useless face-masks, etc. One thing all world leaders are agreed on, from Putin to Biden to Macron to Xi: they all rightly regard him as a fool and don't take him, or Britain, seriously.
