Hi,

I have just purchased a G40 and although I’ll mainly stick with 19l batches I’m going want to go bigger to supply my brothers who have got a thirst for my homebrew!

Currently I use 30l FV’s in my converted fermentation fridge, but for double 40l batches (and 30l batches) I’m looking for n FV that will fit in my fridge, so wider and not much taller than a 30l FV.

What are others using for double batches and what size capacity? Would a 50l be the right size? yes I know it’ll be crazy heavy…that’s another challenge. I also don't want another or larger fridge as Im struggling for the space.

Thanks

R

I brew double batch sizes, and aim for 42L in the FV. I use a Fermenter King Snub 60L but I think you will find this too tall for your fridge.

The Home Brew Shop do these which might fit?
60 ltr Plastic Fermenter with Lid and Tap

I pump the wort into the FV in place in the fridge. I wouldn't want to be lifting 42kg+.

after hours of searching and not finding a suitable FV, and being sensible about the weight of 40l in the fridge, well getting it in and out, I’ve went for a heat pad and inkbird! I’ll split into 2 FV‘s and play it safe. It’ll also give me an opportunity to play with different yeast, dry hopping and temperatures.
