I see it this way:
A gun that is working normally is leathal.
A person that is working normally is safe.
If a gun breaks then it becomes safe.
If a person breaks then they become dangerous.
As things age they tend to break.
So don't give something that is liable to become dangerous something that will make them more so.

I was age ID'd in Wallmart much to my kids in their 20s delight (I'm in my 60s ). The cashier wasn't trusted enough to make the call , and she had to input my ID number, from my photo ID, before she could put the beer purchase through the till.
On a recent holiday I went into millers ale House for a pint , I asked the bar lady for a can of beer to take home to the hotel , and she wasn't allowed to serve it without pulling the ring first . Strange obsession around alcohol versus guns all right

The USA was founded for the 99%, we do not wish to live our lives under the regulations that the 1% require.
That is completely irrelevant.
Laws are made for all, usually because a minority need controlling.
So you have driving tests and laws limiting speed and require a license etc because some people need to be prevented from driving or doing stupid things with vehicles.

If they did not have a gun ,they would just use something else , a car for one ? What is it that there are so many severely mentally deranged people in the states to make them want to execute children ?
Maybe, but it’s much harder to kill 19 children in one specific place with a car.

Jordan Klepper does a number of spots about guns. "Good Guy with a Gun" is entertaining and enlightening.
Absolutely.
As someone who has had the pleasure to serve in the UK army and I can tell you that there is nothing scarier than an active shooter drill, especially when you don’t know who has a gun and who is a hostage - even when there is a group of you going in. It’s hard enough when your enemy is in a uniform.
Klepper showed this quite simply by shooting a student and being constantly shot by the active shooter.
The jokes around the lax controls and attitudes really do pale into insignificance when you see the actual drill.

Ban the guns! Ban the guns!
It’s not about lives- or phones wouldn’t text at faster than walking speed.
It’s about power.
Blatant hysteria.
Regulating gun ownership and carrying out basic background checks to make it harder to buy high-powered weapons is not a ban.
You are right about the power though, because the NRA & Republicans holds an awful lot of it.

Yet they did campaign successfully to make texting and driving illegal at all speeds and deaths reduced as a result. Personally, I see this as a good thing.
Interesting that here in the UK, when accidents and deaths on the road due to phone use increased laws were introduced to counter it and police began increased surveillance.
It’s almost as if legislation works without having to ban things.

Wow, you can't argue with the empiricaly presented facts, but I bet some will try.

This one hit home the most for me, I just couldn't find the US's position on the chart, then I spotted it.

Went to Florida a few years ago. Walking through Walmart there was a gun section and rows of ammo. The guns ranged from pistols to pump shotguns. I asked the sales assistant who was dressed as a big game hunter can I buy a gun from him. He must have realised I was taking the pi## and told me gun laws in the UK are too strict I told him I can't buy guns in my Asda. The point being it was normal to be surrounded by weapons and he thought nothing of selling guns to anyone who could buy them.

Calling them (wrongly) “assault rifles” has not changed this.
(An assault rifle, by definition, must be capable of full automatic fire).

Well lets just call them kid killers because in your country they are the first choice weapon for kid killing mass murderers!

Support for gun control isn't at a low; the majority of Americans support effective gun control.
The BLM/Antifa bogeyman is a RW media creation and indicates a FOX, Breitbart, OANN, Epoch Times sort. This sort will vilify an media not of that ilk, even NYT, Washington Post.
People do buy weapons at a time like this but it's usually Rs because they're the ones who live in fear 24/7.
Anytime someone goes after Black Lives Matter, which they do incessantly on FOX, they're far right and Tucker Tyson Chicken Carlson and Sean are their heroes.
The most dangerous group, according to the FBI, is the RW sort, not ANTIFA. And they did kind of put an exclamation point on that with January 6.
Read up on Antifa for yourselves if you haven't already done so.

You honestly believe your government is out to get you?
No, but the authors of the 2nd Amendment believed that it was in government’s nature to degrade into tyranny, and this was why absolutist language was used in the 2nd Amendment.

It comes from the Puritans’ influence after they left England. Moms were angry at the video game Grand Theft Auto because you hire prostitutes, not because you are a criminal, etc.

The authors of the 2nd Amendment were cool with slavery.
They didn't get everything right.

I’ve read up a great deal about antifa.
They are a useful tool to the Democrats in the US- which is why the majority of their Twitter accounts were shut down the day after Biden’s inauguration.
Gun dealers are showing a massive number of first time gun buyers- it’s not the same old group of “scared republicans”

At the time- the entire world was cool with slavery.
You have to judge people by the standards of their time- not yours.
