Hey everyone

does anyone know if the recirc pump would be running at all times or just when cooling it required - Have a second hand unit that has been set up for fermentation cooling via a coil in the middle of the ferm tank fed from the top tweo ports on the maxi unit

Unit fires up and the agitator and the spinning disc on the top of the pump are moving but its not recirculating even when i set the temp on the STC thats built into the unit down to a real low temp which i would of thought as its reading temp from the ferm tank (which is filled with water for testing) that it would start pumping round the recirc system??

The water in the reservoire is cooling down nicely but nothing else appears to be going on

Dont want to fork out 80 quid for a new pump when its just me looking at it wrongly

Have set it up with the outlet pipe in a bucket and run the unit for two hours but nothing comes out

It sounds like like you may have an agitator version only without a pump in it. The python recirculating circuit is the two upward facing ports. It may be a blockage too. Take a photo of the agitator / pump id sticker to see what is fitted. On my Maxi 210, the pump fitted is a Flowjet SPC 8/2.

Hey thanks for getting back to me

the side of the pump shows the following -

The front of the unit has 4 outlets - the top two point upwards and are what the pipes were connected to when I bought it from previous owner

On top of the pump unit there is a round pieces that spins when the unit is powered up and I have removed the pump and found the agitator propeller on the bottom is also spinning

I did try blowing / sucking on the output pipe when i was playing with it last week and no air will go through it so seemed to be blocked to be - Gently inserted a small headed bottle brush but no dirt or blockage in the pipe that leads to the unit

It had been in good use by the previous owner but he had a really weird heating set up installed (see my previous threads) and I have since removed all of that and replaced with a heat pad connected to the IEC socket on the front of the unit which is controlled by the Inkbird on the unit

Not sure how servicable the pump is - would be happy to take it to bits to check it but only if its easy to do ??

As I said previously I did power the unit up for a few hours and nothing was pumping through it but the unit was blasting out a lot of hot air after all that time so didnt want to leave it on incase it was faulty and I burnt it out

It's the same number on the pump as mine so should work as a recirculating pump. The recirculating pump version has a pipe on the lower section as well as the agitator. The agitator only version just has the mini propeller. If the lines are free and the pump is plumbed in, then it must be the pump internals at fault. I've never needed to take a pump apart as of yet.
