(assuming the generally accepted “bred” meaning brought up).
Except that's not what I thought it meant - I assumed it meant born in a place to people who were also born in that place.

Anyway:
Middlesbrough 18 years
Leeds 3
Bangor 3
Kings Lynn 3
Alton 6
Crymych 34
More or less - so basically I've just been moving further and further away from where I was born. Well rooted here now.

“Sad” because (despite the Smiley) I know that’s what you really think!

Remember the Yorkshire motto:
Hear all, see all and say nowt!
Eat all, sup all and pay nowt!
If tha’ does owt for nowt,
do it for thi’sen!

:hat:
Oh dear 😢 you’re one of those very self opinionated people that should be looking in the mirror.

As a Derbyshire Tup I always remember what my Dad told me:

“You can always tell a
Yorkshire man; but you
can’t tell him much!”

:hat:

That's because we know everything already! 😂 athumb..

And yes, I'm aware I'm not a man

On topic, I'm about 40-50 miles away from where I was born. Never left Yorkshire but York is much nicer than Wakefield.

EDIT: - just realised I echoed someone else's reply. Whoops!

Looking at a varied life is frightening, but here goes!

Born & dragged up in a small mining village in Derbyshire until I was thirteen and I’m still in touch with my very first girlfriend. (Ann is the widow of “the kid next door”, they moved into my Granny’s house about 45 years ago and I have lunch with her and two cousins next Wednesday!)

Since then I’ve lived in:
  1. Skegness
  2. Various ships
  3. Louth
  4. Scunthorpe
  5. Brigg (*)
  6. South Killingholme (*)
  7. Mablethorpe (*)
  8. Skegness again (*)
  9. Ahwaz Iran (*)
  10. Shedgum Saudi Arabia
  11. Riyadh Saudi Arabia
  12. Aberdeen (**)
  13. Aboyne (**)
  14. Glentanar (**) & (***)
  15. Amoku Nigeria
  16. Coull (***)
  17. Glenkindie (***)
  18. Chennai India
  19. Boats “Kindie”&”Calypso II” (***)
  20. Severac France “caravan” (***)
  21. Europe in “motorhome” (***)
  22. Skegness again (***)
  23. Sleaford (***)
I’ve lived a fair amount of my life on offshore platforms and camps so I’ve limited myself to the places where I lived in houses, boats or caravans for more than two years.

I’ve probably missed a few places off but there will NEVER be a (****)!
:hat:

NB
(*) (**) (***)
= A place where I lived with Wife 1 etc.

1. Small village NR Malmesbury
2. Royal Wotton Bassett
3. Wolverhampton
4. Swindon
5. Taunton
6. Portsmouth
7. Swindon
8. Portsmouth
9. Small village NR Petersfield

When I write it down its surprising how many places I have lived. I have genuinely loved them all except Taunton. Fortunately I was only there a year.

My school friends all left their home town to then return 20 years later, despite declaring at the time that they were "glad to leave that shitehole". Me? I'm now 15 miles from where I was born but 24 miles from where I grew up. Stayed not too far from 'home' over the years with a wee South American venture through work in-between.

Dennistoun, Glasgow - 3years
Blantyre - 22 years
East Kilbride - 4 years
Hamilton - 4 years
Rio de Janeiro - 1.5 years
Paisley - 11 years

How many of us now live in the area where our better halves are from? That would be an interesting poll. I would imagine that a lot of people, particularly blokes, now live in their other halves village/town/city. That's been my experience and I'm continually reminded of it by my mum! 🤦‍♂️

Moved to Denver, CO in 1978, Married in 1980, Kids in '88 and '89 Much settling down, but still making beer.

Had looked at taking a holiday in Colorado next year, but have ultimately booked elsewhere. Worth a consideration in future?

Colorado is a great place to visit, :beer1:and drink beer.

Cost of living is on the high side, lately. Housing prices are insane.

The mountains are still there. 300 days of sunshine and lowish humidity.

I would not care to live anywhere else.

Now back in Glasgow about 30 mins walk from where I lived as a child :laugh8:

I don't still live where I was born but am still living in the same county and only about 20 miles away. All my homes have been along the A3 and in Surrey the county that my family have lived in for generations.
However when SWMBO finally retires I would like to move to Wiltshire where the inlaws lived before they passed away.

I can but endorse your first sentence. When I lived in Manitoba a few years ago, my son and I drove to Denver for a long weekend sampling the beer. What a fantastic selection of bars, beers and breweries and a free bus service that ran up and down the main street in the city centre!
