C02 cylinder?

I've just gone to attach my reg to a replacement C02 cylinder and noticed that there is a pin on the cylinder outlet that looks like it might be secondary safety feature?
When the cylinder is turned on nothing comes out of it unless the pin is depressed, which I have confirmed with a screwdriver.
I have 2x regulators and neither is long enough to reach the pin to depress it hence no CO2 is dispensed. Anyone know what to do to be able to use this please? Photo below

No, nothing missing, it looks pretty much the same as my other CO2 cylinders but this one requires the pin/plug to be depressed for the CO2 to be released?
 
It looks like a Fire Extinguisher release mechanism.

If so, depression of the handle (normally attached to the cylinder) will release liquid CO2, via an insulated, line into a “horn”; which is aimed at the base of the fire.

The CO2 in Fire Extinguishers is not normally “food grade”.

It's an air liquide food grade CO2 cylinder the same as my other one 🤷

I'll get in touch with my supplier tomorrow. Typically this has happened at a weekend when they are closed.
 
I'll post their reply on here when I get it, just in case someone else runs into the same problem.

It's a cylinder I was given and they think it might be just because it's low on gas. According to the weight it should still have around 0.5 to 1kg in it but they say the pressure may be too low for the valve to work.
 
Pressure “too low” sounds a bit iffy to me!

Like Americans say “If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck and quacks like a duck — it’s a duck!” and that photo and video looked like a non-return valve (NRV) that is opened by a probe!

My thoughts exactly. There is obviously gas still in there and to my mind I should be able to use it all, low pressure or not. Even If they are correct then what they are saying is that you buy 6kg of gas but can only use around 5.5kg of it or in other words for every 12 cylinders you buy you'll lose the equivalent of 1. Those are terrible statistics.
