Having half hour in the sun before the family get home. Having a lovely AIPA FROM @dan125 could happily sink a few of these.

So last night I sampled @Alastair70's prize-winning marzen. :D

Unfortunately, I had absolutely no idea what a marzen is, or should be, like! I suppose I was expecting a darkish lager, more malty than normal.

In fact, 'lager' isn't really a helpful term at all, it is of course nothing like a lager. My lousy photography won't do it justice , I'm sure, but it is a beautiful chestnut colour, and brilliantly clear.

Nope, it doesn't! Lovely toffee malty flavour, and my tasting companion and I both remarked that although neither of us are lovers of strong beers, it hides its strength remarkably well. As all good beers do. And although there isn't a strong hop flavour, it smells lovely too. Carbonation could be just a fraction higher, maybe? But this is a terrific beer, and I would be over the moon if I had produced anything this good. I fear the techniques required are beyond my basic set-up, though.

Alastair also supplied the tasting notes from the comp, but unfortunately the judge was clearly a GP; I couldn't make much out from his/her terrible scrawl, so I'm not much the wiser there!

A delicious and expertly created beer, which I enjoyed very much,, Thanks, Alastair! athumb..

Phew what a scorcher! Just mowed the lawn.. it’s thirsty work, so cracked open a new keg of my latest PA el dorado and galaxy combo. It’s interesting.. does the job, but not sure I’ll brew it again!

After a 12 hour shift and a hot cycle home what could be better than a saison? This one isn't mine it's @samale it's lovely, slightly hazy, perfectly carbed (unusual for you 😉) , understated but floral nose, quite tart, lots of phenols and very refreshing, perfect for an evening like this, thank you very much.
