Just completed brew 50 in my Grainfather! After a bit of a break I'm back to regular brewing and I've learnt to relax and enjoy the process much more recently. The one thing that spoils a brewday, however, is still the cleaning. But then a part of me thinks that maybe I could cut this down a little bit.

I currently empty and rinse out the system including all the pipework/pump. I then add water and cleaner (just finishing off the Grainfather cleaner that came with the system) and raise the temp to 65C. Pump it round for 20mins, empty it out and then repeat with clean water.

I cut a corner yesterday and rinsed with just cold water. I also run some clean water, heated to 65c through the system before I start each brew.

Is this the same as others? It just takes too long when I'm wanting to sit and have a beer at the end of a brew day.

I just rinse mine and only do a deep clean when I deem it essential. I do put the hose pipe down the exterior pipe on my AIO and flush it through the pump and it puts all the **** in the bottom of the vessel apart from that a light scrub on the bottom to remove any crud where the element is - which is only light and lifts straight off.
It is on the hot side so deep cleans are not needed as often IMO

This was my thinking too. And likewise, I give the bottom plate a scrub and flush any pipework out but that's BEFORE I start cleaning 😂

Definitely going to try a less comprehensive approach next time I think.

I still give the FV a reyt good scrub of course

I have a Brewdevil and I rinse everything with the outside tap, put everything in the boiler, fill with hot water, stick a couple of scoops of Oxy in, run the pump for a few minutes then leave it 15mins or so (if I’m lazy I’ll leave it overnight), empty it out, rinse everything, then fill up with cold water, recycle through the pump a for a few mins and empty again.

I use run off from the chiller and washing up liquid and a non-stick pan scourer to give everything a good scrub and rinse then run some sodium percarbonate through at 60 degrees for anywhere between 20 mins to an hour or so then rinse off and good to go for the next brew. Doesn't take long at all. Could probably get away with not doing the per sodium percarbonate flush after every brew but I'm in the habit now.
