Racked the wine off the sediment this morning - lovely golden brown colour and quite clear, compared to the previous picture. Also tasted a sample - very nice and good strength (not used to alcohol this early in the morning ....). Will leave it for another couple of weeks and then bottling.

Was going to leave it in the DJ for a while yet but decided to bottle now due to other commitments coming up over the next few weeks.
So six bottles of lovely Prune & Apple juice wine - plus a small pop bottle for later.

Decided to put on another batch whilst I'm at it. This time Prune/Apple/Grape:
1 litre Prune Juice
1 litres Apple juice
1 litre Red Grape Juice
(Sugar in juice c. 300g)
Sugar added 750g
1 tsp Pectolase
1 tsp yeast nutrient
1/2 tsp Tannin
1 Sachet Wilko wine yeast
(1 tbsp Glycerin post-fermentation for mouthfeel)
Just realiseed also put a tsp of citric acid in although the apple juice should have plenty - probably won't make much of a difference.

First quality check on the Prune & Apple juice wine out of the bottle. Nice little tipple -you certainly wouldn't guess that it's made from prune & apple juice!

Looks a bit like whiskey ... except for the taste & strength! The glass though is from a whisky distillery in Litchfield, Connecticut that is.
Also the latest batch, Prune/Apple/Grape, is clearing nicely, as far as I can see. It's much darker due to the red grape juice but taste wise still very good.
BTW, no side effects as I type this, apart from the alcohol .....

Don't speak too soon :laugh8:
Just remembered to update the thread ....
No adverse effect at all - from the last batch I had half a bottle one evening and nothing unusual - a nice tipple, can't complain.
Just about to start the third batch, this time with Orange and Apple juice. Should hopefully come out nice as the others.

Thought I'd get rid of the last 2 cartons of Prune juice wink...
Started one gallon a week ago - still very busy.
Recipe:
1 litre Prune Juice
1 litres Apple juice
1 Litre Orange juice
(Sugar in juice ca. 320g)
Sugar added 750g
1 tsp Pectolase
1 tsp yeast nutrient
1 sachet Wilko wine yeast
Then I thought, let's get cracking with the last carton, ah no wine yeast ...
So yesterday just took half a pint from the batch in progress to start off the next batch (same recipe) .... it's going like a train.

I was planning to do that one next - thanks I thought it might come out good.
Klaus, I did this one 2 years ago and still got a couple of bottles left and it turned out quite nice,
1 litre Red grape-Asda
1 Litre prune-tesco
1/2 litre of Apple
443gm of Raisins
Tsp pectolase
1/2 tsp tannin
1 tsp yeast nutrient
Gervin universal yeast
Sugar
Started SG @ 1.120
Finished 1.006

Came out as looking like a light dessert wine. Tasted quite nice from what I can remember.

I am going to try a couple more with the Prune juice and vary the contents slightly.
