Well its been a long time coming, I finally got pushed into doing my driving test as riding around on a bike all year is not the best. My first thoughts are, now I can drive to all these home brew supply stores and stock up...I also feel a trip to beers or europe may be around the corner.

I do have a full motorcycle licence, and I will keep the bike insured for myself only. I will probably be put on as a named driver on a KA, can anyone suggest an insurance company thats likely to be cheap? Will be more than likely spending most of the weekend looking for insurance deals now

Cheers

well done that man

god its an age since i learnt to drive in a mini metro

have fun

Thank you, is a little odd being in a box rather than on two wheels, but looking at the weather I won't complain.

Should be interesting seeing how expensive it is though compared to bilking!

Well done Dan

Watch out now for all the f*ckin' idiots on the roads...

Good work Dan.

It is certainly nice being in a box in this weather, the bike is great in the summer but not so nice when it gets a bit cold and wet.

You can also put the car through the car wash without getting wet ;)

Well done indees!

As a biker I am sure he knows exactly what the idiots look like... and now he has joined them! ;)

congrats dude. bad time to start driving as all of the idiots are about for christmas rushes. I saw 3 seperate crashes driving to merry hill and back yesterday...10 miles? :s

if you can be a named driver on somebody elses' insurance, do that. it's really not worth building up the no claims for what you pay at a young age. THe insurance I was offered on my old KA went up from 1050 to 1500 this year on the same car with an extra year's no claims - it's a ridiculous state of affairs - i'd be riding a pushbike now if i didn't have to buy a van for work.

By the way, if your heater goes, do it yourself, it's the matrix - they cost 30 quid and take 5 mins to fit :p

Thank you all, didn't expect all this attention! I think I was quite lucky with the timing, it stayed dry for me... Only downside was it was full of school kids, idiots and police as there had been a murder a day or two ago. Anyway its done now.

Im certainly looking forward to the summer again when I will get back on the bike, but for now the named driver route is what I will be taking.

Will be doing that pass plus, which with any luck will give me a discount. I've had my bike licence since 08, mid 09 I had an accident which is still going through with the insurance, so I dont know how that will affect the cost of things.

Sadly I'm not a young whipper snapper anymore (27) so with any luck being over 25 should keep the cost down. My partners checked and at first glance it looks like I will only add about £50 to the cost of insurance, which if it's correct I am now thinking should I bother with the pass plus.

Anyway, really glad it's done and dusted, it will certainly come in use for my home brew supplies, and with any luck I plan my first property purchase next year, so I can do the driving rather than paying someone to do it.

All in all, a good start to Christmas, and it's now put me in the right direction for the new year!

Cheers all!!! (by the way if anyone wants a lift to the pub....haha)

Make sure to get insurance quotes before commiting yourself to pass plus as very few insurance companies are supporting it these days. It's due a revamp but then has been for years and years. I'll take my ADI hat off now! Congrats! :thumb:

Congratulations, beats shoving your hands down the sides of the cylinders at every set of traffic lights to get some heat into them (before the days of electrically heated wimp gloves :D )
