I absolutely love sitting out by the fire with homebrew. Had a chimenea (clay) that cracked a few years back. I now have a fire bowl similar to Nunfa's. I noticed it's starting to rust through so I will be getting a new one for this year. My parents live in a forest so I always stock up with dry wood when I visit or they bring me some when they visit.

I have not had a fire yet this year because it has been so darned windy. Looking forward to it. I can sit and stare at the fire for hours.

And that's the beauty of a chimenea ;) no problems in the wind, still chuck the heat out ;)

Back home in Germany we have an old fashioned bonfire place in our garden. Its just a stone ring about 80cm diameter and grass all around it. In the summer me and my mates hang out there and have bbq and drink beer and wine.
Sometimes we also make "Stockbrot" which translates to stick bread in English and is just a plain white yeast dough which gets wrapped around a stick (hazelnut works well) and then cooked on/next to the fire. You have to have some patience otherwise you end up with a black bread which is doughy on the inside, but homebrewers are experts in waiting anyway.

It's on now

But this 8.5% Porter has me seeing double flames... :? :? :?

 Just to say, it's been on for the last three nights

BLAZIN'!!!!!!!

Nice looking conversion!

I too like these things; theres not really much of the year when its pleasant to sit outside at night drinking cold beer, but add some heat and some mesmerising flames and it all changes! The rain these last few months has been annoying though; I need a brolly to go with mine..

Cheers
Kev

I love my fire pit,

i build the wood up in a round pyramid and place some flat wood across the top, the flames shoot out from all the gaps making a 3D flame effect into a living work of art or sculpture of fire, there's nothing like it to sit and stare at drinking the home brew.

An old lorry wheel minus the tyre sat on some engineering or fire bricks makes a cheap fire pit to start off with before buying one and a chimnea can be better if its windy but not as nice as sitting around a fire pit toasting marshmallows till there crispy on the outside and gooey in the middle yummy!

Sparking mine up tonight, nice and clear forecast, spot of homebrew infused stargazing :thumb:

I've decided that when we have our new house sorted inside, then I will get the out side sorted with a patio and decking and invest in one.

My main use will be to burn old bills, junk mail and reduce the amount of items that go in my green bin :) I can see myself now sat in the garden with an ice cold home brew watching the evening pass by

There's something about sitting around a real fire that reaches the very soul of mankind, seriously.
I don't know if it stems back to the time we lived in caves and needed to keep away the beasties or what.
I recently went to a barbecue at a freinds place in a field where we had a big bonfire, meat cooked in the ground and lots of beer and the fire eventually had everyone sat round until well into the morning.

A great time was had by all.

I also live in a terraced house with a small enclosed yard, typical Victorian utilitarian space, I would need a tall chimney to get the smoke clear of the neighbours but i'm giving it serious thought to rigging something up.

Mine is oiled and put away for the winter. :(

Nooooooooooooo! :nono: :nono: :nono:

Winter is the best time evanine :thumb:

I've had my family out scanning the heavens around the fire and we have seen some INCREDIBLE sights up there

Wrap up, get the summer loungers out, get the fire on, and enjoy the celestial wonders mate :thumb:

Top of my shopping list is an amazing telescope I've been promising myself for years  ;)
