Since I don't think I'll get all that many I'm thinking I might chuck them all into a brew green (undried, that is) as a late hop addition - I've got a packet of magnum that should do for bittering.
Anyone done green hopping? I presume you have to use a greater weight compared to dry ones, any idea what the ratio would be, roughly?

Yes, perhaps it is, but I can dry several kilos at the same time!

I'm rather proud of my new babies.
Cast your curser back a few pages and I reported that my hop shoots had been eaten by a passing creature. Well the good news is that there was one shoot left.
I only planted it this year and didn't expect any produce.... but it looks as if I'm going to get at least one good brew
Now come on don't be shy... Show me yours.

Harvested my First Gold today-quite a poor crop as they were hit hard by aphids early on-but not as badly as my fuggles that were pretty much non existent. On a plus note the WVC plant has done amazingly well-will give them a day or two more as the cones are huge.

Three weeks ago I couldn't find hops anywhere but now they're everywhere.
I can by plants or seeds (preferable) for Hopfen Humulus lupulus, is this type of hop anygood for brewing?

do you know what variety you want ?
if not do you know what kind of beer you like ?
look at some recipe for the beer you like
and see what variety of hop is used to make it :thumb:

and find out in two years you want something different

Have just harvested my NNG (North Notts Goldings :whistle: )
A poor yield, 0.87Kg, way less than half what I had last year!
Should dry to c. 175g, enough for nearly 3 brews!

Evening all,
Joint hop growing project with my brother in Nottingham this year as he has lots of space out back and a little less rain than sunny Manchester.
Fuggles and East Kent Goldings planted in late January. Fuggles harvested today.
360g harvest weight which should give around 70g after drying (from what I've read). I think that we could have maybe left them a bit longer but they are very papery and have a real good hoppy smell to them. Nice lupulin as well.
As this was the first year and I wasn't expecting anything.... I'm really rather pleased
