well it didnt go to plan, the old saying a watched pot never boils. well a unwatched pot of wort boils over

got a higher SG/OG even with the boil over 1.048 . 5L wort-(boil over) + 15L cold water it is all now in the pb

wort 23.1c starter 22.3c so its in the hands of the brew gods now

if you're boiling and hops in etc then that's all normal , you won't notice the hop when fermented etc as per style , hope it all goes well.

sounds like the turtle and the hair , remember the turtle won . sods law just cause i said they ferment quick

i dont blame you. it was quick but think my yeast from the last brew was getting old as it had been in the fridge for 2 weeks. im in no rush if i get a nice drinkable beer at the end.

About to bottle the exact same kit tomorrow.

Tried a sample on Thursday night straight from FV and the taste was great. I've left it in FV for 2 weeks (as of tomorrow) as the yeast was very slow to start. Even though I bought the Wyeast I didn't unwrap the pack and left it in a cupboard for 2 months so may have compromised the yeast somewhat.

I didn't experience any of the vigorous fermentation other people have recorded so it was slow and steady this time. Expect a strong banana smell when it gets going which is perfectly normal and not evident in the taste (I hope).

Interested to know how it goes.

Sorry didn't notice chronology. I started mine earlier but looks like you've caught up. It'll be interesting to see what taste profiles emerge if we bottle at different times.

As this is my first extract brew I'm happy with the results so far and have learned a few valuable lessons. Put Wyeast in fridge and how to cool wort.

what was your SG/OG?

brewR tells me that i should be looking for a FG of 1.012 if i get close i will bottle

i didnt need to cool my wort as 15L of cold water did the job
