Amazing cake C, is their no ends to your talent. :hat: :hat:

I think we will have to find a culinary challenge for you to attempt. :hmm: :hmm:

I fancy a plowmans lunch challenge, Pale ale, cheese, ham and pork pie, pickles and chutneys all made from scratch   and while you are at it you may as well grow the salad items as well

I make pies and quiches and such (mostly at work but sometimes at home)
However I am terrible at making cakes, the wife makes them usually as I always manage to cock them up somehow.
I'm a much better savory chef, it must be my work, it makes me look for ways to add meat to everything haha.
Got to say that some of these cakes are things of beauty.
Wouldn't mind having a bash at a quiche, have you got a tried and tested recipe i could follow please including the pastry?? Never made pastry as we always buy the ready made chilled stuff..

I love baking, brings back amazing memories of doing it with my Grandma (an absolutely amazing baker) when I was a kid, so I was glad that, when I went to Uni, it turned out I'd remembered all the stuff I'd learnt with her years ago. Bread, biscuits and pastry are the main things I bake, I leave the cakes to my mum (who also happens to be an amazing baker).
Many of my hobbies were picked up at uni as money saving ideas, so I brew, bake, cook and make toffee (though sadly not as much as I used to at the moment). But from money saving they all turned into hobbies because you almost always end up with a far superior product than the bought version, and eating/drinking something you've made is always more satisfying.

I've recently been given access to my mother in law (to be) 's mother's closely guarded shortbread recipe... a significant moment as it is an acceptance into the family!!

It's easily the best shortbread I have ever tasted, and the recipe is quite different to anything I have ever seen. It will remain a closely guarded secret...

Now. You see...

...what you've done is tell us about it but then tell us we can't have it. That's not fair. I can of course, understand the need to protect the recipe, perfectly understandable. So what you will have to do now is respond to all the PM's that will land in your inbox with a batch of said shortbread. :thumb:

Bloody hell! Your cakes are immense Callum! :hat:

Thanks! Can't claim a lot of design kudos though, I enjoy building them but I don't think I could actually design one from the ground up. The fruit one was straight from a book and the Fairy Tales one was a mashup of a couple of designs I liked.

That is the sole and exact reason! Normal service will be resumed once I get the Christmas cake done... :thumb:

Great cakes! You've got a real talent there :thumb:

I'm sure you've been told before, but you could charge a fortune for them!
