Saltaire Brewery & Northern Craft Brewers 2014
Its a Homebrew Competition for Homebrewers by homebrewers!

Back by popular demand, get the brew-planner out and put the date in the diary!
Saturday 12th April 2014 - Doors open from 11.00, meet at 12.00 for 13.00 start... (The week before Easter)

The Northern Craft Brewers & Saltaire Brewery are doing it again, the last three years have gone down a storm and last year we raised £640 for charity.

The Homebrew Competition is to brew your most interesting *Speciality beer:
It could contain Herbs, Spices, Vegetables, Fruit but the idea is you get a 5th ingredient to compliment and add to the Water - Malt - Hops - Yeast, you have free reign on ABV (We suggest no higher than 7%, spare a thought for our Judges!!) Let your imagination run wild! *Check BJCP Cat 21a but you can include Fruit too if you wish. http://www.bjcp.org/2008styles/style21.php#1a

The Brewery will be open from 11.00am to accept entries, all entries must be in by 13.00

As previous years the bar will be fully stocked by Homebrewers and all proceeds will be for Charity, I'll be asking people to brew for the bar so we get a good range of styles across a number of ABVs.

Prizes will be given, Engraved Tankards for 1st, 2nd & 3rd and a 'Best Cask' prize for the best beer on the bar.

I'll edit & add more to this as I know more...

Bring your homebrew, swapping and tasting is very much encouraged

That's gone in the diary :thumb:
I will happily provide some beer for the charity thing too. How are you dispensing as I could do a corny or a pin??

dispense will be Handpulls from Cask / Bag-in-Box.

Thanks for the offer, have you got any brewdays posted up on here, love to check your work... see if you make the grade :D :D ;)

I should expect to be ok...nowt pressing in diary.
I can do a cask of beer for you, any ideas as yet as to what style you would need from me? I mainly do pale hoppy stuff on the big kit.
if its for charity, I can do a homebrew jobby on my little kit.
Ive got an idea for a speciality beer to chuck into the comp.

I think we are covered for the Beer for the bar, though if we do it again next year, give me a shout :)

I've not even thought of my own competition brew yet.

Hope to have something brewed for the comp and bring a few extra bottles over too.
Got this pencilled into my diary. :thumb:

A little more info...
We are hopefully going to be bringing you some Brewery-Presentations from some the regions commercial brewers.... watch this space!

During judging we’d like to keep you entertained while you enjoy the beers on the bars, so with that in mind we are organising a ‘Meet the brewer’ style presentation from a range of interesting local brewers with different backgrounds so we can get to know a little about their brewers, their background, and of course to hear about their fantastic beers!
Roosters Brewin Co
Northern Monk Brew Co
Mallinsons Brewery
Wharfedale Brewery

and our own NCB member, Shane of The Cheshire Brewhouse

Get your entries in to Shane with the email address on the blog https://Franklin.wordpress.com/2013/12/26/ ... tion-2014/ :)

Damn i don't bottle anymore I put mine in casks. Going to have to get a decent bottle capper now lol. I wasn't going to enter but I really want to now I'm better at brewing :-)

Can anyone come to this then? I've tried to join the NCB forum but can't find the register button and it does say you need to be a member of NCB? How do I go about this? I won't have anything suitable for the comp but can easily bring a few bottles of other stuff...
