I use a wooden shelf in the brewshed for maturing demijohns. I used dettol surface cleaner on the shelf a few weeks ago as there was spots of mould all over. I think its from condensation on the DJs and running onto the shelf.
Now a few weeks later there's more spots of mould on there.
Anybody had same thing happening or have an idea how I can stop this.
Thanks

use some neat bleach on a cloth and leave it there (after wiping first) nowt will grow . i have messy brew days in the shed , bleach soon stopped the mould .

Even with the condensation going on, I'll ggive it a go tomorrow. Thanks

Good to hear mate, will get on with it tomorrow. Along with getting everything ready for the first brew in months

Get rid of the wood and use something impervious, plastic, metal, or just a tray of same to sit them in......with wood the mould will be back

I had a problem with mold all over my old brewhouse. It is down to condensation. An extractor fan helps a lot.

I know its from condensation, just hoped to stop it. I get no condensation elsewhere just on the djs .
I've gave the shelf a good bleach clean but I'm going to cover the shelf aswell. Just to be sure.

My brew table is exterior varnished marine ply and 'the mould' attacked it. I bleached it several times, the mould always comes back. I still haven't solved it, just have to keep re-beaching which is a RPITA. I think the mould gets into the grain and it's impossible to kill once in there (within reason)...note to self...stainless table maybe

Try a 3:1 or 4:1 blend of high-proof spirit and pure tea tree oil, Vossy. Let it soak deep into the wood, and you should find the mould doesn't come back. Also good for nits, fleas, house-mites, dandruff and acne.

Sorted, scrubbed with bleach a few times then left to dry and wrapped with vinyl from pound land.
Very pleased with the finish so will be doing the rest of the shelves the same.
