Ferm fridge - would this work?

It's not ideal. You could use the fridge part as an insulated cupboard, but in the summer, it's sometimes difficult to keep your fermenting beer from going too warm. Also if you wanted to do lagers then you would need to be able to cool it too.

It's would take up a lot of space too, and the freezer part looks like it might be too small for an fv.

In short, better than nothing, but you could get a second hand fridge or freezer for about £30 (or maybe a free one on freecycle) that works, and that'd give you more control.

Nice, thanks :)

I wasn't sure whether the freezer section would work as a separate FV cabinet, so I've always ignored the fridge freezers that come up in preference of under counter fridges, but if they can both be used separately then that's a whole different ball game.

I would ignore them too tbh. If controlled by a single thermostat (i.e. an stc -1000) you would only have one temp probe, which would control the heat of where it measure. I'd imagine a pid controller would be able to control both individually, but they seem a lot more complicated to wire up than an stc.

Irrelevant if it doesn't work.

Personally, I would go for a larder fridge if you can find one. Something like thisfor example.
