Retired biologist, fisheries management. Retired after working in NW England & Wales for many years, mainly covering shellfish stocks. (cockles, unfortunately in one too-memorable year)

Wonderful place Saudi Arabia :-o.
And as for siddique, my conclusion it was better used as paint thinners. Consequently I didn't touch a drop of alcohol for the rest of my stays.

Spent over 2 years in Saudi back in the 70s. Nearly half of it at sea - the Red Sea really was a wonderful place! Hey, and you must have got the wrong supplier for your spirits. If I remember correctly (unlikely!!) my supplier back then was called Smokey Cruz, who apparently was a Quaker (perhaps he didn't touch a drop of it himself??), but was clearly an expert. The stuff was supposedly distilled 5 times, and if you bought it "uncut" was basically pure ethanol. Clear as a bell, no flavour at all - perfect for adding juniper essence & making lovely G&T :D
Plus you could drink a ridiculous amount without getting too much of a hangover. Or, at least I could do 40 years ago...... no longer got the constitution, I fear

this sounds intresting, how do you go about starting your own brewery?

Me too, spark as well, too late to change now
Know the feeling, I've been sparking since I served my time at 16. Never strayed to far from it but I have worked in a lot of different industries from tyre manufacture through textiles and water to tobacco and now rail.
Might have to settle at this one getting to old to keep learning new tricks lol

Starting your own brewery - With a great deal of research and long hours in the evening after work. I'm getting there. I think I have some epic premises, I have most of the funding I need now. Business plan. And the product recipes are coming along nicely. Branding and artwork is underway. Also making applications for permits and licenses. Just need to get the equipment suppliers in board now and start planning the build phase.

to name a few.......
