I'am looking at buying a keg and gas to start keging
I can get gas from Adams gas, but witch one ??
Mix or plain co2
I do ipa's and stouts mainly
I'am going to have a go at Abey type beer soon
I was think 60/40, but I'am clueless
Advice please
Also if anyone's got a keg what to sell local to Faversham

Stouts are best with the mix gas - that give the very small bubbles like you see with Guinness. Need the adaptor for the tap too ideally. Mix tends to be less acidic too, which suits that style.

CO2 is apparantly best for an IPA as well as lagers and so on as you want high carbonation. There was a discussion elsewhere about this: http://www.homebrewtalk.com/showthread.php?t=404610 - that might be helpful.

General consensus for homebrew is that just plain old CO2 is the most versatile. Mixed gases need different regulators that aren't so readily available.

If you want the guinness cascade when pouring then best to get mixed gas but you will need a specific reguAtor and a stout tap for the teenie bubbles.

Otherwise just co2. You can get similar results as to mixed if you carb lower and get a good quality commercial tap that can foam up at.the end. You may need to put an additive in the aid head retention with this way but it can give very similar results.
