Whats the best product to use for head retaning? I know not to use soapy soulution to was bottles ect. I have just started drinking my first brew of Muntons gold IPA and it has a pretty good carbination for only 2 and a half weeks conditioning in bottles but lacking any sort of head.

I am pouring the bottles quite slowly and know that bottles of beer you buy and pour into a glass in the same way will be without much head.

I can imagin if I was storing my beer in barrels I would get some sort of head from pouring from tap to glass at a height? ? but want to stick to bottles.

:drunk:

Did you prime the bottles with sugar? How long have they been bottled for?

Yes I batch primed with 60 grams - 5 gallons of beer with brewers sugar (very fine) dissolved in hot water prior to bottling.
I am getting a cream fizz on the top of the pint and a bit of a fiz so I am happy.

I do however have another brew in the FV - Woodford's Admiral's reserve, ready for bottling on saturday. Am i too late to add anything else to aid a head?

I guess I would need to add when im starting a batch.

Adding more head retention chemicals is usually a last resort - I have done both those kits with good results and decent enough head.

How long are you leaving it in the bottle before drinking?

Like I said the Muntons IPA has been in bottles for nearly 3 weeks and I have yet to bottle the Admiral's reserve. Which I have been told takes 6 weeks to condition. Am I drinking the IPA too early? Tastes bloody good already :drink:
