Im doing it with a diet, on a 5 / 2 basis which means I can have a treat 2 days a week. Actually feel better, even after a few days

Been dry now since before xmas and was on and off well before that, will be off alcohol until at least 9th jan, possibly longer if given more med's:twisted::twisted:

Hope you’re ok matey and on the mend.
I’m on meds for a heart attack I had earlier this year, really messes with my capacity for drinking volume these days !

Do it every year - I put on such a gut over November / December that it takes a couple of months to get rid of again!

Seriously, I read once that of all the things to give up temporarily alcohol is the most beneficial, as the liver is the only organ that rebuilds itself (as opposed to just not getting worse). That may be apocryphal and is almost certainly too simplistic but it stuck with me.

Blimey, I m getting worried. Ive given up smoking and bought an exercise bike! The worlds gone mad! However Im brewing like mad to fill every available bottle and keg for the summer......when it arrives.

Sometimes I do it, sometimes not. This year is a bit of a mini dry January; I'll be drinking will past midnight so will be drinking on the 1st, and there is a Mod band playing at my local on the 27th January, so I'll be on the **** that night, but other than that will be dry for January.

I'm also going to start getting to my summer / nice weather cycling weight to help me up them there hills, so will start to eat more sensibly. Nothing extreme, just a few pounds too loose and start to exercise a bit more to get my fitness level up a bit.

I will, however, be doing lots of brewing!

I have at least 3 or 4 nights a week where I can’t have a drink because of Work, that’s plenty for me.

I do three weeks dry at work. Then 3 weeks wet at home. The end of the 3 weeks at home I am more tired than the end of the 3 weeks at work.

We’ll be on a health kick in the new year (Mrs Dundee has signed up for 2 half marathons). She has decided she won’t be buying any wine until at least her birthday. I’m just getting back into getting fit for fun so a pint or 2 on a Friday/Saturday won’t do me any harm.

I did think about it but then my mate asked if I was out tomorrow. I may have one weekend off. Only have 4 bottles at most a week anyway but feeling the effects of only cycling once a week so need to get back exercising
