Hi all,

I have just started to get into brewing after receiving a Mr Beer craft kits (11 bottles) for a fathers day present. It came with a tin of "Bewitched" beer. Due to lack of confidence (which I later found was silly), I left it for about a year. So when I came to make it, it was already about 6 months past its best before date. I thought lets try and see, as nothing ventured nothing gained, as they say.

It was a little slow to get any foam on the top, but it got there in the end after about 3 days in the FV. I now think that was due to the yeast going slightly. However, I bottled it and after 6 weeks in the bottles with 2 carbination drops, it turned out to be a nice drink. Shame I started drinking it after 2 weeks, as if I had more pacience I feel the more time in the bottle the better.

So I then brought a Coopers 30 bottle kit with the Coopers Larger in it and I have that in the bottles now (2 weeks so far). I brought a Mr Beer craft "North West Pal Ale" kit and that was put in the FV Tuesday night. Currently it is sitting on 25 with lots of foam on the top after only 12 hours. It is amazing what good yeast can do lol.

I am currently in Aus but will be in the UL soon, so it is good to hear that most of what you need can be brought from somewhere as close as Tesco. However, I will be looking for local small homebrew shops.

My past experience of homebrew was my parents making it. It would take all day to do and it seemed so tricky. THen the beer that came out of the barrel would be flat and not that special. Nice to see that homebrew has come on a bit since then.
