It's amazing, isn't it.

It'll probably mean I'll end up with some OCD about PID tweaking but hopefully it'll push some of the other madnesses out of the door for a while. Yay!
 
For the benefit of the lucky folks who have nabbed the ITC-100VL/RL, here's a quick way of finding out which one you receive.

Pinch the two tabs and slide the cover off the entire unit.

Side-by-side you'll notice that the one on the left has an extra relay (circled). This is the ITC-100RL

If you see two blue resistors like below, then you have the ITC-100VL which can be used with Solid State Relays (SSR), so just carry on with any of the numerous guides that are out there.

With the output of the ITC-100RL not being suitable for a Solid State Relay (SSR), I plan on using a contactor instead like this - https://www.screwfix.com/p/british-general-20a-dp-contactor/6654p
Contactors aren't really designed for constant fast-switching so not ideal for switching kettle elements, but they're cheap enough to replace every now and again if required.

All wiring is the same, apart from the output (terminals 6,7 & 8)

Im an electronics/broadcasting engineer, i'd have been very interested in one of the misslabled units!

Well my pid arrived today and i believe i have the VL version as it only has one black relay in there

Any ITC-100 winners out there the pt100 probe has no Y clamps, just the red and silver wires. You've got to change the Sn setting on the unit to 21, short pin 5 to pin 4 (V of paper clip, wire, whatever) and then attach the red to pin 4 and silver to pin 3. It's polarity agnostic but convention makes me want red being +ve on pin 4.

Mine's reading a bit high so I'll have to calibrate - but yay, time for some mekkin about.

In case someone's wondering about the power supply that is polarity agnostic. I ran it all the way down to 5 volts and it still worked. 4.5 volts and when the relay clicks in it turns itself off until the relay releases, then repeats. So you could hack a USB phone charger to run it, but if you've got the relay version make sure it does still allow the relay to work.
