Since taking up this great hobby in the New Year it is pretty much the first time I have nothing in the FV and frankly it's making me twitchy. Due to cock ups on both my own part and that of HBS I have a surfeit of extra light DME, a load of fairly lightly coloured crystal, some wheat extract and a whole bunch of EKG and fuggles (or aptly as my auto spell correct has just come up with KEG and giggles).

Any suggestions as to what to do with this lot as a last extract brew before taking the AG plunge?

Cheers

Sounds like you have the makings of a British Golden Ale, or a light Belgian one, such as a Patersbier or Triple.

Thanks Ian I had originally bought the stuff to do the GW Boddies clone but cocked up due to not understanding difference between Lovibond and ECB for the Crystal, ordering extra light instead of light DME and then the order was delivered twice. Combine that with me probably under hopping and getting my numbers wrong which I made up for with sugar in exasperation the 'Boddingtons' I bottled yesterday was a bit insipid....

That's called LEARNING. Do you use an app, or a recipe book?

Just safe ale 4 and some wilkows ale yeast but happy to buy some more
