Today I'm brewing a "traditional English bitter". I'm having a garden party with free beer to raise money for the Royal British Legion. OG in the 1040s and EKG as the only hop. I'm not going mad on the late hops.
 
Started an AG BIAB lager:

1.6Kg Vienna
300g Munich
200g Caramunich I
200g Carapils
28g Hallertau Mittelfruh
Crossmyloof Kolsch yeast

Fermenting at 16.5C, no airlock activity but that may be down to the seal on my FV.
Took an eternity to get down to temperature so may look into making an immersion wort chiller.

Immersion chiller is the way forward !

Started making a gallon of rhubarb wine, using the River Cottage recipe. So far just chopped the rhubarb, mixed with the sugar and left to extract the syrup.
 
Bottled a gallon of cider from our dwarf apple tree whilst brewing a low ABV saison using Sorachi hops. It's a bit of a homage to Brooklyn Brewery's 1/2 Ale. I could really pick out the dill from the hops so hope that's not too overpowering!

GH Brown porter with substitutions based on what I had in the malt store.

Interrupted by the monster of thunderstorms mid boil, but all went well. Used MJ M15 Empire Ale yeast
 
2 crates of Left Over IPA. Smells nice, ought to last through summer whilst I'm on my single hop ale trajectory #GregHughes

EKG 10g flame out (80c guess)

39 IBU

1.048 OG

I had to top off with around 1.5 litres of bottled water to get the desired gravity (although it's still 8 units higher than what brewers friend predicts)

This is the second water treated batch ive got on the go so really hoping for a better standard of beer
Only time will tell
 
Today i will be brewing a Mr Beer Bewitched craft ale. This was the first beer that i ever brewed and it did not turn out too well. It was a bit flat and the taste was not there. To be fair to the beer though the kit was a year out of date and i followed the very overoptimistic brewing instructions on the tin.

So i thought that i would give it another go with a kit that is in date and the 2 - 2 - 2 rule as a minimum. Rather than the two weeks brew, two weeks bottle and then drink. With the brews that i have done since, i have learnt that the more time i can give a beer the better it will be. However, as we all know that is sometimes harder said than done.
 
just brewed a choc stout. did a mini mash with roasted barley, crystal, cara wheat, carafe special and oats. I used a kg of muntons brew enhancer as the fermentable. fuggles and sorachi ace. I've got some cocoa nibs to add next week.
also used the second runnings, with a bit more enhancer and a litre of OJ to make a fruity summer mild, if such a thing exists.
 
Not today, but first brew since August on Sunday. Blood Orange and Tangerine Pale. Accidentally put all my remaining hops (75g each of Amarillo and Citra) in at flame out, so have ordered 50g each of Amarillo, Citra and Mandarina Bavaria (So recipe will have 250g of hops + some Magnum in total). Hope they arrive today so I can do first dry hop whilst there's still a bit of activity.
 
Got an extended mash on for my Citra Saison. My daughter has a 1 hour school visit this morning then I’ll take her out for a snack before going back to nursery, then pick up my Inkbird from the sorting office and get some shopping - it will probably be about a 3 hour mash. Lost my mash paddle though (I think it might be in the shed) so had to use a metal spatula.

It was meant to be an APA but I won the Inkbird competition so decided to do a saison to test out the steppes temperature function during fermentation. Went with a Citra saison so I could still get something a bit hoppier in my stocks. I had the gain already but not the hops/yeast, which I got from The Malt Miller this week.

Recipe:
2.5kg Crisp Clear Choice pale malt
1.5kg Ireks Munich

15g Citra FWH
35g Citra 5mins
50g Citra flameout

Fermenting starting at The low 20s and ramping up to 30 over a couple of days. Using MJ French Saison

I also plan on bottling my Dubbel today.

If I’d gone with the APA it would have been a Falconers Flight “single” hop beer. It’s a good hop for a fairly easy brew.
 
I also plan on bottling my Dubbel today.
This has fermented down to 1.008 from 1.066 giving me a mighty 7.6% beer - the strongest ive ever made by about 2%! It’s a bit paler than I’d planned but otherwise (very) early impressions are promising.
 
All went well...except the bit where I forgot to put the bazooka in the boil kettle..do did a quick transfer and sorted it. Volumes bang on but efficiency down a bit to just over 68% giving an og if 1042 instead of 1047.

Today I brewed James Morton's Oatmeal Extra Pale. Half batch BIAB. And using Vermont Ale Yeast rather than WLP001.

Really enjoying the simplicity of BIAB. I bought an SS Brewtech mash tun a few years ago, as a progression from BIAB, but my brews didn't improve any. Going back to BIAB and there's less to clean and it's a slightly quicker brew day
