I read the below article recently and I do find it alarming, particularly with the racism and bigotry being spouted profusely by the media. Being of the "snowflake" generation, I haven't lived through enough history or got enough hairs on my chest to shout it down as ********.

https://www.irishtimes.com/opinion/fintan-o-toole-trial-runs-for-fascism-are-in-full-flow-1.3543375

EXTREMELY interesting article Ciaran. I shall in future keep an eye out for more of these 'tests' and 'trial runs'. As Im sure there are more to come

Here's a little known fact.

The USA imports a lot of oil from Saudi Arabia and many other countries but it has within its own borders zillions of barrels of oil.

They actually have more untapped oil reserves than Saudi Arabia or Russia and these reserves are traditionally left untouched so that when the rest of the world runs out of oil the good old USA will be sitting pretty; especially now that Uncle Donald is building up the US military to ensure that no-one dare protest about it.

I think the current plan is that when North Sea Oil runs out we resort to our "Special Relationship" with the USA. i.e. We expect to go to the front of the queue with our begging bowl.

To this I say "Dream on and never forget it's 'America First' in Donald's book!"

https://money.cnn.com/2016/07/05/investing/us-untapped-oil/index.html

Clearly it's america first, but hopefully britain second. It's not necessarily a selfish viewpoint, hopefully it's similar to advice about oxygen masks in a plane.

So you run in and tell everyone there is a crisis then you tell everyone they are doing a great job then you say look I solved the crisis.
Is he a one trick pony!

At Charlottesville there were exstremists and reasonable people on both sides. He defended the patriots there, when fake news MSM were labelling them all as far right nazis. Which is what the media do all the time here and in the USA.
Most of the patriotic rallies are attacked by ANTIFA, who dressed in black, faces covered, waving flags and committing violence are far closer to fascists than the people they are attacking.

But....antifa, is a depressingly common refrain on the right. They’re a bogeyman blown out of all proportions to justify anything. Even then, the idea that they are somehow fascist, or equivalent to, because they wear black and have been involved in violence shows a complete lack of understanding of what fascism actually is.

There were people marching alongside blood and soil nationalists in celebration of someone who committed treason to defend his right to own slaves. Thankfully opposing this is not an extremist position any more, either in the U.K. or U.S.

Edit: This came a cross a bit stronger than I intended, but...you know...I think it matters.

It is antifa who have the most confused definition of fascist / nazi, according to them if you want free speech your a nazi if you think Israel has the right to exist your a nazi if you don't want Germany to run Europe your a nazi.

They were literally goose-stepping and seig-heiling in the streets. Calling them Nazis doesn't seem particularly unfair to me.

I am Irish and live in Ireland so I don't interact day to day with people eligible to vote in the US.
All of my family in America voted for Clinton.

The one American citizen I know who voted for Trump said she did so, as her Father's business was failing and she hoped Trump who make conditions easier for him.

Biggest load of nonsense I've read in ages. Real patriots wouldn't share a platform with nazis. Also, for all the claims of antifa violence I've yet to see any decent evidence of this aside from scuffles at protests and that appalling chap getting punched in the face. There's no comparison between them and the right wing terrorism carried out in the USA over the past few years.

When we had the student demonstrations in London a few years ago. Some anarchist groups latched on and used it as an excuse to riot and case criminal damage to property.
The students had no control on who attended their demonstration and only a tiny number wanted to riot.

Have you asked them why they voted for a sexist racist as you posted earlier?

He is a sexist (there are plenty of quotes) and he is a racist (https://www.nytimes.com/2016/10/18/opinion/why-trump-doubled-down-on-the-central-park-five.html).
Trump is a dangerous demagogue.

Is that all MSM can dig up to prove Trump is a racist, in all his 70 years on earth.
That is pretty much all of the US media bar Fox News. So huge resources and thousands of journalists and they can only come up with a couple of tenuous items to prove he is a racist?
I am really surprised about the fragility of that accusations, so for now I will tick racist off my list of reasons why I don't like Donald Trump.

We have the bike lock attacker Eric Clanton who is an ANTIFA supporter and University Professor.
He is on trial for this and other violent assaults.
