Forget Trump and Brexit for a moment and take a look at this BBC Report:

"Two illegal immigrants have been jailed for fraudulently claiming £125,000 in relief costs by falsely cposing as victims of the Grenfell Tower fire.

Elaine Douglas and Tommy Brooks were put up in hotels after claiming they lived on the 19th floor of the block.

They were caught when council workers discovered their flat did not exist, Isleworth Crown Court heard.

The pair, both aged 51, pleaded guilty to two counts of fraud by false representation."

Opinion is divided in this household.
  • To the right we have:
    • "That's disgusting; and now we will have to keep them whilst they're in jail."
  • To the left we have:
    • "How the hell did it take all that time to discover that the flat didn't even exist?"
I abhor anyone who uses the misery of others to make themselves more comfortable, but these two people seem to have been taking advantage of a gullible council, so I'm still wondering where the blame actually rests.

My question is why are we paying for them to stay in prison they entered the UK illegally in early 2000 they should be deported.

The court heard Brooks and Douglas had managed to avoid immigration authorities for 16 years after entering the UK illegally in the early 2000s.
Det Supt Matt Bonner, of the Metropolitan Police's specialist Grenfell Tower unit, called their actions as "truly appalling".

Douglas claimed a total £67,123.35 of relief intended for victims of the fire. She spent 276 nights in the Radisson Blu in Kensington, costing the council more than £55,000.
The 51-year-old also spent more than £11,000 on a pre-paid credit card she was given when she complained about the hotel's food.
Brooks claimed £58,396.89 of relief and stayed in the Radisson Blu and another hotel for 243 nights. He also spent more than £9,000 of charges on a credit card.

WOW! That's some spending!

I'm still wondering how many of us would resist the chance to steal if they were allowed the freedom to do so? How many of us have walked out of work with a paper-clip, a couple of pens, a few tools etc.

It's all stealing, but on a smaller scale! :no: :no:
 
I don't know how our system works but it looks like generally criminals would serve there sentence here before being deported anyway, it also looks to me we have a stupid system for deporting people that gives them all sorts or rights to appeal and cost the tax payer even more.
 
If you think this is crazy I just came across a Somali in Sweden was found guilty of all of the following:
Rape of an under age girl
Death threats against her and her family if they report it
Burglary
Theft of a car
Driving illegally
Other stuff google translate doesn't seem to like
His sentence is 150 hours community service and he will not face deportation. Sweden has a history of light sentences for immigrants and covering up there crimes but this is extreme even by there standards.

So much going on in Sweden that is hushed up by the press.
To the extent that the so called 'far right' Sweden Democrats could become the biggest party in the up coming election.

I hesitate to comment as my previous post was badly worded and open to misinterpretation, therefore it deserved to be deleted. I apologise unreservedly.
My point was that if any foreign national (not covered by diplomatic immunity) commits a crime in the UK, why should they be permitted to stay?
Any person who does what this pair of reprobates has done deserves no sympathy; the fact that they are illegal immigrants has no bearing on this. They are examples of the worst of human nature, grasping, greedy self-servers who ride upon the coat-tails of the misery of others. We don't need this type of parasite.

A police station in Malmo kept getting attacked with grenades so their response was to move the station. Then there are the gang rapes, shooting and the utterly pathetic sentences handed out if they can even be bothered. Community service for rapists yet the BBC will not report on it.
