Hello guys,

As the title suggests, I'm looking for recommendations on what tower to fit on my kegerator build?

I notice that there are a lot for £100+, but I would appreciate getting my hands on one that's little less pricey.

On another (but applicable) note - how does everyone rate Keg Kingdom for kegs, fittings, etc? I tried emailing/calling today with no response and also, the ability to checkout on their site appears to have been disabled. The other potential supplier (which was recommended to me) is Brew UK. Again - has anyone experience with these guys?

Cheers!

Patience and save an ebay search, there are still a few pubs left to get redeveloped up a bit into tesco 24hr shops. You want to find an ex pub font on your doorstep as they are large awkward shapes and heavy. And ideally sold as is with stale beer trapped in the rough cut pipework - as thats gonna make it cheaper...

good luck with the hunt...

fwiw my 4 tap brass font cost me £50 and a half day drive to meet the seller in a motorway carpark..

never used keg kingdom myself, my #1 supplier for all things corny is Norm, he sells on ebay under Normutopia or something similar iirc his email is [email protected] and he has been the #1 reliable supplier of all things corny and home kegging since i bought my first keg off him.. this time of year tho he could be on his hols?? (he wont sell you the cheapest kegs but if you have a problem he will address it straight away, top quality and service..)

I have used Brew UK quite a few times for equipment and kits when I used to make them. I have always found them reliable.

The HomeBrewCompany appear to do the cheapest kegs that I can find. Although it does look like they've just put their prices up slightly.

Hi Fil, sorry but I got a bit lost in your ramble about Tesco stores - and the rest of the first paragraph... There aren't any pubs closing near me or any supermarket's getting built.

It was actually Norm who put me on to Brew UK yesterday afternoon. He only deals with new kegs now, if anybody is wondering.

Cheers!

Yes, exactly that sort of thing. Unfortunately that supplier doesn't post to the Scottish Highlands and I've no idea of the quality. I've seen towers that look identical to that for £135, so there must be a catch?
Probably just chinese knock offs. I have 3 taps identical to the ones on the tower and they've been no bother for me.

Just got two kegs for £75.50 (£37.75 each) with free postage! I've been informed that they've been pressure tested, etc and any issues then I can return them for a refund or replacement.

Excellent. So you went for the unrefurbished ones then? Would be interested to hear what they are like as I want to get a few once I've figured out how the hell I get CO2 without having to take a day off work to collect mid week. Have been undecided as to whether the additional cost of the refurbed kegs would be worth it, especially if I get a few of them.

Ah, good point...

I just contacted the supplier and have changed them for the fully refurbished ones - £98.90 with free postage. Don't fancy risking fitting un-refurbished ones seeing as I've never kegged before. An extra £23.40 so it's not silly money.

I suppose there's some sense in knowing what they should be like before getting some of the cheaper ones. I assume you won't be stopping at 2!

Yeah, at least to start with. I'd doubt refurbishing is anything more than PTFE tape, cleaning and seals. But I don't know.

Yes I've heard these kegs breed, but for now two will be fine.
