Location
From Newcastle Upon Tyne but living in Switzerland
I am new to Brewing originally from Gosforth Newcastle Upon Tyne, I am an Ion Implant engineer working in the Semiconductor industry in Switzerland.
I have an addiction to good tasting Beer, and feeling home sick for the beer of my home land, my 1st goal is to try to brew a London Pride type Ale and hopefully progress from there.
1st Brew was a Brooklyn Brew Shop Punk IPA kit which was given as a gift, 2nd brew was an ESB 1 gallon batch recipe, I still have a lot to learn and currently learning from my mistakes.

Welcome along, a few key points I learned in my early kit days.

1. Cleanliness, look at star san.
2. Temp control, an old fridge and a STC100 makes much much better beer.
3. Loose the sugar and swap it out with DME.
4. Time, leave your brew in the FV for 2 weeks and don't bother with a secondary FV.

welcome aboard..

with a successful brew under your belt it sounds like your doing well already having sussed a good cleaning and sanitation procedure.

Hi all thanks for the advice, I have a good Home Brew shop near were I live and the staff there have been very helpful, even with the language barrier we can mostly work out what I need, "www.brauundrauchshop.ch" plus the massive resource on you tube.
The only issue with YouTube sometimes is that I find it leaves more Questions than Answers, but since joining the HBF, I've been able to find the answers I need fairly quickly within the fantastic " How to Guide".

My local home brew shop do not recommend Star San they sell it, its just the chemical regulations are a bit tighter in Switzerland for chemicals rated as pesticides, and also the danger is if you accidentally mix it with other chlorine based cleaning products there is potential to produce chlorine Gas.
I understand most of us will likely only use it in small amounts and the production of chlorine Gas is very small but it should be noted,
I am planning to use Star San going forward any way for my next batches in a spray format its use in this way I think is invaluable and really convenient, I am currently using a Swiss based alkaline cleaning product called Halapur.

I really like the AG style of brewing but still have a lot to learn, thanks again for the welcome fantastic resource !

Work for Seagate IRL as a maintenance technician currently on photoligraphy and Wet Etch strippers but have worked IBE toolsets such as NXE and Anelva.
Pain in the butt at times but with other tools like bulkfill systems, ovens, wafer sorters to name a few it's quite challenging at times never mind having to do it in a class 100 cleanroom.

I know of Seagate, Analogue and Intel in IRL, I used to work for Applied Materials, I am and Ion Implant Specialist, worked all over but now settled in Switzerland working for ABB.
Did one of the Undertones work at Seagate ? maybe one of the Guitarists ?
Like you I also dabbled in other areas Metal mainly (FXP Sigma, SPTS and Endura) and a bit of Diffusion have to be flexible these days !
Just Sampled my first IPA turned out great as expected, was bit concerned about carbonisation until I flipped the top then a huge relief as it went pop.
