I've got the recipe pack made up for this, but have now decided id like something a little less strong. So if I left out the sugar addition and brewed it to 23 litres rather than 20 i would be looking at an og of around 1.047, keeping to the recipes hopping schedule gives a calculated ibu of 32 with the hops i have.
Any thoughts on this? I've got till Friday to decide whether to brew this as per the book( 7% abv) or tone it down as suggested above to about 4.9%.

I'd keep some of the sugar in. It helps with attenuation. Maybe reduce by a half, or two thirds. And stretching it to 23ltr, possibly more, will be fine I think.

Here's my attempt after 2 weeks in the keg. I brewed it as per the recipe in the end. Might try a reduced abv version for the summer.

Whats the table sugar for? Just to bump up the ABV?

I'm using beer smith to scale this down to around 5.5% and thinking of omitting it completely.

Thoughts?

Thanks.

Answered in the posts above.....I never read all the thread.

I've wound back the IBU's a little to try and balance it out, maybe too much?

Also added cara malt as I've got a kilo of pre crushed I'm trying to use.

I went off my Totally Tropical after a few weeks, it seemed to me to have a saltiness to it, so it's been sat out in the garage for 4 months and has come good again, tastes amazing, no longer quite as hoppy but still a good aroma, I'm drinking one now, cheers!

It's alright for you! I've just nearly poked my eye out on a raspberry bush down my allotment...I'm definitely not having as much fun.
Sounds painful, you won't find any raspberries this time of year.
Typically when I go to pour myself another one, the kegs empty, luckily there are a few bottles that wouldn't fit in the keg.

I was trimming the canes to ground level...and whap! Anyway it's stopped running now and is no longer red but it's a bit scratchy..
Glad you found some supplies!
I'm kegging a pale shortly and preparing everything for brewday tomorrow...

Wow, that’s a clear beer for all those hops!
