Evening all,

I've recently got my hands on a fridge which I've turned into a fermentation chamber. I'm using the Inkbird ITC-308 to control the temp inside it, with a 45W tube heater.

For those using the Inkbird, what have you got the heating/cooling differential set at? And also the compressor delay?

Cheers

Heating is 0.5C and cooling is 1C. The fridge is in the garage so it's only the tube heater that switches on and off. When I cold crash, I set the Inkbird to -1C. The fridge then runs between 0C and -1C which is fine.

Compressor delay is 10 minutes I think.

Cheers Ghillie, mine's in the garage too so I'll look at setting up the Inkbird to similar settings.
For me, I wasn't concerned about how often the heater cycles on and off.

The only concern is the frequency of the compressor cycling on/off, hence why I've gone with 1C differential on the cooling side.

If you have a modern fridge, you might find that it's so well insulated that you could operate on a lot less of a differential than 1C. It's trial and error and ultimately what you're happy with.

If you bought a Tube Heater with a thermostat on the end then don't forget that you can adjust it and then use the ITC-308 to fine tune the temperature.

In summer I turn mine "down a bit" and in winter "up a bit"; and manage to get a temperature swing of no more that 0.2*C on the probe (which is clamped to the FV and insulated from the fridge using an ordinary kitchen scourer).
