The original thread was posted in November 21 2014 and as peoples tastes change (and a lot of new members have joined) i wondered what your favourite commercial beers are now.

The only two commercial beers I now buy are Punk IPA and Willia Bros Joker.

Maybe I’m getting fussier, what are you guys drinking these days when you run out of homebrew?

Anything that takes my fancy. I don't stick to a brand or beer specifically.

Quite into the appreciation of Belgian beers at the moment. Father likes them and I want to make him one so am on Westmalle and rochefort for some tasting pointers and recycling the strong 330ml bottles for when my Westvleteren 12 Clone is ready.

Still like a nice bottle or two of Adnams Bitter. Either that or Proper Job. :beer1:

I read this just before I went to Sainburys yesterday so gave it a try. I find nothing comes close to proper job for an IPA you can get in a supermarket but this would go on my list of other good beers in the style which would also include shipyard IPA (I don't like there APA you get in pubs), the charlie wells one, founders all day IPA, Sierra nevarda (expensive though) and the ringwood IPA would just scrape onto the bottom of the list.

I had a Sainsbury's taste the difference 'Suffolk Blonde' which was absolutely lovely, really was nice and well worth a try. I had a look and it's brewed by St Peter's who do a plum porter, it was the worst thing i've ever drunk.

I buy quite a lot of beer my current favourites is -

Proper job on tap down is lush. St Austell also makes it's big brother call Big Job, well worth a try.
My favorite brew on tap at the mo is Skinner's Porthleven acheers.

Surely the beer world cup covered this

All lies. People didn't know what they were voting for. Honestly, i voted for some stuff cos it had a pretty can!

Back on topic, with so many beers out there I have a list of beers I avoid rather than one I always go back to. That said, I always get excited when I see 8-ball Rye around. But I have the grain to make Red Brick Rye down in the brew shed so we'll see how that turns out.

Personally I'm staying to feel all these American style IPAs a bit boring now - don't get me wrong, some of them are excellent beers (though personally i find Punk IPA a bit "meh" now) but it's like "been there, done that"..... I feel maybe they lack balance and the brewers should try something new.....

I find English IPAs more interesting - Proper Job is good, though last time i did a back to back (2 months ago?) i actually thought Bingham's Space Hoppy was better..... I recently enjoyed a Fuller's Bengal Lancer and Marston's Old Empire too.....

St. Austell Tribute is a really good pale ale.....

Can't explain why but i just done like Belgian beers - i can't put my finger on exactly what it is i don't like - too woody maybe, too sweet and esterey.....

If you like sour beers i can recommend Calypso from Siren

I know a number of us only voted so we could see the results as you couldn't view them without voting (i did mention this at the time in the threads) but it was only a bit of fun so no harm done.

I don't know if my store bought choices would even be familiar to anyone. Are there any good American craft-ish beers you all get in the UK?
There are a billion micro breweries here that have been successful at getting their beer into the grocery stores. I'll give mine anyway: La Fin Du Monde from a Montreal Brewery (99% sure it's in Montreal). And there's another in a suburb near Detroit called Final Absolution. It's a Belgian as is the La Fin Du Monde. Both are greaat.
